The late sky danced with vivid oranges and pinks. Catra helped Adora out of Bow's pickup truck as they said goodbye to Bow and his family.

The entrance to Beast Island was straight out of a movie, concrete jungle with bright lights at every angle. A party played out on one side, a crime scene unfolded on the other. A land of opportunity, and Adora was beginning to get overwhelmed.

"Are you alright?" Catra asked.

Adora nodded. "I just cant believe we're really here."

"Well, better get used to it. What should we do first?"

Adora took Catra by the hand. "If we ever want to get anywhere, we're going to need a map."

SeaHawk's Store of Treasures was a small hut between a barber and a pizza place' surrounded by hordes of sticky, screaming children. Fire was blazing from a stovetop in the very back of the shop, and Seahawk slapped the fire alarm to keep it from going off.

" Not again!" A woman complained, her voice monotone.

"Fear not, Mermista. I am a expert when it comes to fires."

"Staring them or putting them out?"

Adora chuckled and let herself in.

"Excuse me sir, you have any maps?"

A tan woman with blue hair that had started to grow out turned to grimace at the two girls. "By the bugspray, $6" she picked at her black nail polish.

" $6! Catra growled- that's insane!"

"Insane? That's business. You think those kids are gonna pay for themselves?" Seahawk laughed. Adora looked at the two shop owners then back at the children running outside. There we atleast five of them.

"They're all yours?"

The blue- haired woman gasped. " Are you kidding?  Sailor and Marina are the little ones."

Catra smiled.

This couple seemed nice enough, if not a tad neglectful. Maybe in some other life, Catra would have grown up just like the rest of their family, getting into mischief with some ocean- related name .

She handed Adora the money, and tossed in a can of sunscreen to make it worth thier while. Then out of the corner of her eye, she saw something.

On the road just in front of the store, cars shot straight past, dangerously fast. Yet, the kids continued to jump in and out of the road, like a game of double ducth. Catra walked just outside the door as Sailor fell face first into the road. His sister ran to the sidewalk in fear.

Just a car was speeding down the path, Catra swooped in and held the startled boy on her hip. The driver honked a few times but Catra ignored him.

Back on the sidewalk, Sailor gave Catra a wide grin, his two front baby teeth missing.  Soft brown curls stook up from a bandanna of his own.

Meanwhile, Marina pulled at her mother's arm, and ran out to hold Sailor in her arms.

"Thank you."

" No problem." Catra shrugged.

Seahawk handed Adora the map and a bit of change.

"We owe you one."

Adora and Catra waved to Sailor and Marina and continued walking.

" Any plan yet?" Adora wondered.

Catra shrugged and slung her arm around the blonde's shoulders. "No plan. Tonight's the night to do whatever the Hell we want."

" Sounds like a pretty good plan to me."

The Toxic Lake was one of the sketchiest bars Adora had ever seen.

She had never actually seen a bar before, but still.

First of all, they never asked for an ID. Second of all, no one seemed to be there except for a group of college students clearly stressed from their overabundance of testing. Third of all, the dance floor bounced when you stepped on it as if it were nearly a wooden plank covering a hollow interior.

Catra was light and quick on her feet, But Adora was quite nervous.

Catra linked hands with her companion. "Hey Adora.." She smiled.

"Hey Catra."

A strange nosie emerged from behind them. Two woman , Ella and Tossa holding eachother in a kiss. They were calm and confident, as if they had done it a million times before.

Adora knew she shouldn't stare. But, she had never seen two woman kiss before, not even in the romance movies Scorpia left playing while she cleaned. This was new, and Adora had a burst of new feelings.

Joy

Surprise

Jealousy?

Catra waved her hand in front of Adora's face.

"Earth to Adora?"

"What is it?"

Catra smirked. " I was thinking- we could take shots. To celebrate." She pulled out tiny bottles from a pocket in her jeans.

"Real shots? Like, alcohol?"

"Yep." She passed Adora a bottle.

"Dont be scared Blondie, i' ll be here the whole time."

Adora thought about it.

"Ok, but just one. " Adora gulped it down, trying to ignore the horrid taste. She set the empty container dantily on the counter.

"Good. We can go dance until they kick in." Catra was glad to move, as a boy looked Adora up and down.

Catra took Adora by the wrist under the pink and blue disco lights.at first, they tried to dance in tempo to the beat of the music, but bean to jump and twirl and random instead.

"This is just like your 10th birthday!" Adora giggled.

"What?"

"We stole wine from Shadow Weaver's freezer and locked her out of the house."

Catra remembered. They had completely trashes the place, screaming the birthday song up and down the rotting halls.

Catra had loved Adora since they met, and she was just about to tell Adora how she felt, when Shadow Weaver burst in.

Catra decided that nothing would get in her way now. She gave the blonde a reassuring glance and kissed her against the wall.

All of her anger, resentment and fear turned into a single kiss. She wanted this so much. To be kissed. To be loved. "I missed you."

Adora reciprocated this, all her joy , nostalgia and pure adrenaline turned the embrace into a chaotic disaster.

The music over the loudspeaker changed, and both girls separated. Adora pulled her hair out of her ponytail and downed her second shot. As they stroll out the door, Catra takes Adora's hand.

"This is not because I like you."
