Ava sat up from bed as I lay against the door panting; she must have heard the slam. I was curled up on the floor, hugging my knees, screaming in my head, thinking, What the hell just happened? Somebody just died!

"Angel?" asked Ava right after she the lamp on. "Why are you down there? What happened?" She kneeled down to where I was and placed her hand on my left shoulder.

"K-K-K-K-K..." I stuttered. I was trying to mention even just Katie's name, but I couldn't get them out of my mouth. I couldn't unsee Brett pulling out that blade and stabbing whoever that person was. Even worse was that, well, Katie was in cahoots with him, and when the fool I was ran off, she heard me. She knew it was me, obviously, because I was asked to spy on them.

Why did I have to see all that? Now she's after me.

"What?" questioned Ava. "You okay?" I shook my head. "Did you see something?" she continued. I nodded.

"What did you see?" interrogated Ava. "Please tell me."

"K-K-K-Katie... She..."

"Katie?" Ava gasped. "What did she do?"

"Sh-Sh-She was... She was-"

Ava tensed up. "K-Katie's dead?" I shook my head.

She exhaled. "So... Well, what?"

"Katie... And Brett... Killed..."

"That's what you saw?" Ava interrupted. I nodded, and Ava sighed. "You need to rest first. Let's talk about this tomorrow, 'kay? I'll wake you up for breakfast," said Ava. I nodded again.

She helped me up and let me lie down in her bed, then she climbed up the ladder to my bunk. For a while, I was still shaking in bed, unable to shut my eyes, but then I finally managed to grasp reality. Somebody was dead, and I was a witness. Katie and Brett were involved.

======================

"Angel!" shouted Ava. I slowly opened my eyes. It was around 7 in the morning then. "How are you?" she asked.

I stretched and hopped off the bed. I gave a thumbs up in response to Ava's query, and she smiled back.

"Come on, Angel, hurry up. Let's not be late for breakfast."

I groggily prepared myself. I was too tired even to comb or brush my hair. All I really did was change out of my pyjamas. I headed out to the table.

"Angel?" asked Scarlet as I arrived. "You alright? Did you sleep well last night?" Very conveniently, almost none of the guys were here yet, besides Jens and Allie, but at least I know those two ain't dead yet. Katie also wasn't there.

"Uh, yeah, I guess-"

"I'll cut straight to the point," Ava interrupted with a nervous sigh. "Angel saw stuff happen at night, and I hope we don't sound too pushy on accusing somebody or something like that, but..."

Kiara swallowed her waffle. "She did?"

"Yeah..." I groaned. "S-Something about Katie and Brett. They were-"

"Oh, they kissed?" laughed Lillian. Actually, yes, that actually happened, I think, but that wasn't the main thing.

"...No," I replied. "Well, actually, yes, but no."

"So, yes?" responded Pip.

"What a half-assed response," groaned Amy. "So, what happened?"

"Brett pulled out a sharp knife, and..." I stopped there.

Pip puffed. "Explains why those two ain't here. Who'd the fuckboy kill?"

"I-I don't know," I admitted. "But it's a boy, that I'm sure of."

We continued eating until Jordan came by. "Hey," he said. "Do any of y'all know where Brett's gone?"

"Brett and Jordan are roommates, aren't they?" questioned Elise.

"Yeah, they are," Amy confirmed. "Jordan, take a seat. What do you know? When was the last time you saw him?"

Jordan dragged his chair out and sat. "Well... Last night, I went to bed around 8 or 9 I think, which is when Brett and I normally sleep. But last night he said he had to meet with Katie."

"Well, that checks out," Kiara commented. "Angel saw them flirting last night." No, actually, I didn't see them flirting. Well, not the later half, anyway. I just know they did.

"So, where's Brett now?" asked Lillian.

"I doubt if anybody 'ere knows," said Ava. Yeah, that was true, at least until Katie would arrive. "Darn, can somebody check on Katie for a second?" she continued.

"I'll excuse myself," said Amy, rising from her seat. "I'll check on her." I almost forgot about the Hawthornes. They were planning something too, weren't they? Either I would trust her and let her be, or I'd call her out on it. I didn't do either, surprisingly. I just waited. If she took too long, or something suspicious happened, I'd call her out on it.

Jonathan and Jared came along. "Y'all," said Jonathan. "When was the last time any of ya saw Brett?"

"I did last night," I spoke. "Why?"

"That checks out," replied Jared. "Open FATE," he commanded. Oh, give me a break...
