"Hello Angel,

Brett Simmons is now dead. Please stay calm.

The next person to die will end their own life by hanging within the day.

Over."

======================

"Somebody's gonna commit suicide...?" questioned Ava. She looked disgusted, but shocked at the same time. Admittedly, I was too.

"Probably Katie, I can't think of anybody else," said Jens. That's true.

"Who killed Brett, then?" asked Lillian. "Wasn't it that Brett killed someone else?"

"That's what I thought, but..." I stopped there. "I couldn't stand to witness it any longer. I'm sorry, everyone."

The group stayed silent for a bit. "It's fine, Angel," Elise consoled. "You've said a lot already, and it really helps." I smiled back at her, tilting my head to the side. I doubted her statement for a second. I felt I was always the silent type, after all, though thinking about it, yeah. I'm the only reason we know anything about Katie and Brett.

"Brett's instructions were just to protect Katie, right?" asked Jared.

"Well, not just that," I refuted. "He had a choice between Katie and Edward. He would protect one, and kill the other. But knowing them, he'd obviously want to kill Edward, and protect Katie."

"He said that out loud?" Allie clarified.

"Yeah. And they didn't know I was watching them, either, so you know that's the whole thing," I stated.

"Great. Now where the hell is Edward?" groaned Kiara.

"Ask David when he gets here," said Pip. David Langdon was Ed's roommate, and it's worth noting he and Juliet did get along pretty well. He was into bugs and dissecting frogs or whatever, that gross stuff. In short, he just really likes insects and all that, besides gardening or whatever. There's probably even a spiderweb hanging somewhere in his room that he likes tending to.

"What was Ed supposed to do?" asked Scarlet.

"What do you mean?" Jared followed.

"Like, what were his instructions?"

"We don't know," he answered. "Apart from protecting Allie, we don't know."

Allister sighed. "So, we're at a dead end again?"

"Not quite," refuted Lillian. "We could try to at least stop Katie from killing herself if she hasn't already."

"W-Why are we even trying to kill each other over something Juliet said?" cried Ava. "It's not fair!"

"We've all noticed a pattern at this point," Pip contributed. "Ya see, Charlie deleted his email even if he was asked not to, then he died. Then when Brett met with Katie last night, another dude came in, according to Angie. That dude is 10 on the chatroom. Now Brett's dead. How lovely."

"And because Katie is supposed to protect Brett, she's gonna die next?" asked Elise. I had this in my gut feeling for a long time, along with Pip I'd assume, but we never really had proof or evidence until now.

"Well, we can't say for sure that it's Katie who's fated to die next," Kiara pointed out. That's true.

We then heard someone walking back down the stairs - Amy. "She's not gonna budge," she sighed.

"She has to," spoke Lillian. "You've checked FATE, right?"

"Yeah, I'm aware of that," Amy replied. "And you'll want to check the chat as well. 01 spoke again."

======================

01: Hey, so considering what happened to those lovebirds, who do you think 10 is?

02: Well, it's obviously neither Katie nor Brett. We can rule out everyone we already know, too. That leaves Ed, David, and Elise.

Me: The killer definitely wasn't Elise. It was a guy. And he stood up.

08: I can still stand up, you know, it's just that I'm really sick and it's a pain to walk around.

Me: Still wasn't you, was it?

08: Of course not.

15: It's probably Ed because he's gay

04: Martin, no homophobia, please.

19: If you support homophobia u r gay

02: oh for fucks sake Pip-

19: It's true though, it's definitely Ed because he's gay

10: what do you mean I killed them because I'm gay?

15: gottem

07: That was surprisingly easy. You're really Edward?

10: uh no i'm david obviously

13: Yeah, that's edward.

20: So what do we do with him?

01: Isolate him and we can interrogate.

02: So, 01, I'm guessing you're David?

01: I can't say.

18: It's the only option...

01: Still not allowed to say.

07: Wait, about Katie, is she still alive? Do you know?

02: She is, but again, she's not opening up.

03: Fuck off. Where's Angel? I need to talk to her asap.

Me: Why were you chasing me last night?

03: I heard you running away. I figured it would be you.

Me: What happened, then?

03: Sorry. I just really hate myself right now.

Me: Because of what happened last night?

03: Duh.

02: Who killed Brett?

03: Just shut up.

03: I don't want to talk about that. I just need to talk to Angel.

Me: Why?

03: Just come to my room.

07: Katie, please don't kill yourself.

03: Thanks.

======================

A while after that I walked over to Katie and Juliet's room. Ever since she chased me last night, I thought she was out to try kill me. You never know. Now that some truth's been revealed, however, knowing that Brett is dead, I felt a bit more safe... But a lot more anxious. I knocked on her door. "Hello?" I spoke. "Katie? It's me, Angel. You wanted to talk, right?"

She didn't open at all. Rather, I leaned by the wall as she replied to me straight, speaking through the door, whimpering, "H-Hey, Angel... L-Last night, h-how did you know about m-my m-meetup w-with... with... with B-B-Br..."

"With Brett?" I replied. "I heard your footsteps. I was talking to Amy last night when I heard you running."

"Oh... You did, eh?" she answered. "L-Look. I broke the rule..." she mumbled. "I lied about not having an email, or whatever. I received another email from J-Juliet... I've accepted my fate." Another email, huh? I opened my FATE. Nothing apart from Brett. I guess it was only for Katie to see. What she had just said about accepting her fate was alarming, though. I didn't want to believe it, even if I already knew beforehand.

"W-What did it say?" I asked her.

"I'll read it for you," she said. "'H-Hello K-Katie, I hope you're not m-mad. Y-You s-s-saw my email, r-right? B-B-B-B-Brett's d-d-dead now, isn't he?

I'm sorry. Y-Y-You're n-n-n-n...'"

She couldn't continue anymore. It was silent and subtle, nor could I see them, but I could hear them. Those tears falling... She was was weeping. She was crying. And I had stood there, trying.

She couldn't accept her fate.
