Everything started with a kiss

With a wink and saying to wait in front of the door until she put on a fresh shirt, Gabriel turned because he didn't want to lose the object of desire.

No sooner had Samantha pulled off her sweaty shirt and turned around when ...

First, she heard a loud bang as the door closed, and then the unmistakable click as the key was turned over. Startled, she turned around and felt her heart beating twice as fast. Still, her breath stopped at the same time several times because Gabriel came slowly but unerringly to her and fixed her with these amber, sparkling eyes. She stood motionless, staring at him with her mouth half-open.

"Um ... what?"

It was just a whisper, and in no time, she felt a long-forgotten heat and knew she was probably red as a tomato.

"You drive me crazy ..."

It was also just a growling whisper, and suddenly he was so close to her that Sam didn't even dare to swallow, let alone breathe.

Slowly but greedily, Gabriel let his eyes wander up and down and had to admit that he liked what he saw there.

Uncertainty spread in the young woman, and restless, her gaze went back and forth. Damn it. She was wearing only a bra!

He gently took her hands in his and came closer, which was almost impossible.

A thousand thoughts shot through her head. It started with the smell of sweat and ended with their friends waiting on stage. In between, there was only this attractive, dark blond man with the warm eyes that she wanted to touch everywhere. She also wondered why time simply couldn't stand still.

Her mouth was so dry, but at the same time, Sam was dreading suffocating from her salivating flow when she registered again how close Gabriel was to her. So close that no sheet of paper would've passed between them.

Both just stared at each other, unable to say anything, and goosebumps formed on both upper arms as his warm breath stroked her bare skin.

All Samantha could think was that it probably felt like being on the verge of a heart attack.

His eyes wandered from her eyes to her lips, and as he leaned forward slightly, it happened. Panic, arousal ... everything occurred at the same time. Sam didn't dare to breathe.

Gabriel wondered when he'd been so nervous the last time. Probably never.

He quickly got used to not seeing a man in Sam and greeted the fact that as a woman, (s)he was just as tall as he was ... so Gabriel didn't have to look up. But those eyes were the same –– gray-brown, with some green, barely visible parts. Gabe had to smile inside as her long hair was brown again, holding the strands of tassels out of her perfect face with a headband. He wondered how long it would take for her to turn it red anew. Indeed it was incomprehensible to her why that was so.

But added to this was the uncertainty. Samantha had so much fun with the others, and Gabe knew that he had to do more for her to fall in love with him. Mind reading would've been so easy ...

Why should such a pretty girl be interested in him?

The thing he was always good at was talking. Gabriel had the gift to wrap people with his charisma and wit around his finger in no time. But he hadn't been able to rely on that since his transformation, for it was challenging to come up with a reasonable sentence.

Then he saw her a few hours ago with Rob, who held her hand, kissed her on the cheek –– so familiar. Once again, his courage had left him; admittedly, he would've liked to scratch his friend's eyes. The curly-haired man was his best friend for countless years in this world. Of course, Gabriel couldn't blame him because how should Rob know that he was interested in Samantha?
