Its 5:30 in the late afternoon as you walk up the steps to the dance studio were you are to pick Riker up from the lesson he teaches. The two of you have planned to grab dinner at the cute little new café around the corner.
You kind of had a rough day. Today you found out your sister won’t be able to make it for your birthday this year. She got a job over in London so you most likely won’t see her for a while. Who are you going to gush about how cute your boyfriend Riker can be to now?
Plus to top it all off, this morning you broke a heel traveling to work so you had to go back for a different pair, which in turn made you late. Then after you finally make it your cruel boss gets up in your face about the lateness. Tring to explain didn’t work at all it only got you another warning. A few more of those and you’re out of there.
Anyways, all hardships aside, you still have a smile plastered to your face because any second you’re going to meet up with your blond goofy boyfriend. Surely he can make this crumby day better.
As you enter the building several people chat in the lobby as you walk past. You’re so proud of Riker and everything he has done. Besides the band and Glee he has been teaching several classes here at the Rage. On several separate occasions Riker has attempted to teach you as well but your clumsy feet just can’t feel the beat. Not that you don’t like dance, you love it. You love watching how people can make art with their bodies and provide so much entertainment, especially Riker. That boy can move.
The only thing you feel uncomfortable about him teaching these classes is that there is this one girl; long natural wavy hair with tan skin and the perfect body, great completion with big deep brown eyes to match. Plus she is admittedly a wonderful dancer. Kelsey is her name and she can get any guy she wants, they practically line up outside her door. She wraps them around her little finger.
You don’t want to be because you are confident that Riker will always remain faithful but she makes you jealous, jealous that she gets to spend that little sliver of time with your boyfriend.
Walking to studio number 6 you push the thought out of your mind before you get too worked up. Not even bothering to knock you causally walk though the door about to say something when you stop, dead in your tracks.
The sight in front of you chokes you up. A silent tear slides down your cheek with jaw hanging open. Wanting to look away and run for it you can’t, feet cemented to the dance floor.
Before you lies Riker holding that Kelsey jerk kissing her. Not just a light peck either, mind you, but full out kissing her. When they break apart he looks deep into her big brown eyes. She whispers something that you vaguely make out as, “See I told you. Plus she won’t even have to know.”
That’s when you breathe in sharply causing a mouse like sound to escape your lips. Quickly covering a hand over your month it’s too late. Riker practically drops Kelsey and spins around rapidly eyes wide saying nothing.
“That’s what I thought, nothing to say. You’re caught red handed Riker.” Choked up and devastated you dash out of the studio towards the main door.
“Wait! Please wait. Let me explain.” He calls after you but you don’t want to hear it.
Outside now, you walk fast to your car nothing stopping the tears at this point. Digging around your purse for your keys you feel a hand touch your shoulder but violently shake it off knowing its Riker here to “explain” what you clearly saw as cheating.
“Please just give me two minutes. That’s all I need.”
Turning around swiftly you yell even surprising yourself a bit, “Fine! You have two minutes, but there is nothing you can say that’s going to make me believe that that wasn’t what I know it is!”
Riker’s face is red, like he too is on the verge of sheading a tear. “Okay I know what it looks like but I was just helping Kelsey out with an audition she has tonight. She needed more practice and asked if I would help. That’s all it was. Never in a million years would I kiss her for real.”
“Well either you must be a freakin’ fantastic actor or liked it because that sure looked real. Plus you didn’t have to actually kiss her. Maybe just go over lines or something. I mean she probably has plenty of kissing practice without you, just look at her.”
“Is somebody jealous?” Riker tries to make light of the situation but it doesn’t help.
“Yes I am jealous! Do you know how hard it is to watch you go to that class every week with her! I can’t compete.” You mumble those last words and turn away finishing unlocking your car.
“Is that what this is about? You feeling like she’s better than you. She’s not. Please look at me.” He gently spins you around hands lightly resting on your shoulders. His voice is soft and soothing now. “Don’t ever think someone’s better than you. You are an amazing indescribable girl, that’s why I love you. Don’t forget that.”
Lightly nodding your head you begin to cool down. The crying has stopped and the anger is gone.
Riker continues to talk. “Now I admit kissing her probably wasn’t one of my best ideas, but can we forget about it. Please. I don’t want this to come between us anymore, okay.”
Quietly you answer, “Okay, I agree.”
Riker smirks eyes now more bright, “Besides, she isn’t near as good of a kisser as you.”
You lightly laugh before his lips are on yours, soft and beautiful. The two of you stay like that until one of you finally needs to breathe. He pulls away then pecks your nose lightly.
“How about we finally grab that dinner?” Riker whispers.
“Sounds perfect.”
Later that evening after a wonderful dinner at the café, which is incredible by the way new favorite, Riker and you catch a movie. The movie was decent, but what made it better is Riker and you held hands the entire time. He would whisper things to you at different points and always managed to make you laugh. A few times you guys were hushed.
After the movie walking out of the theater with Riker on your arm his phone buzzes. He fishes it out of his pocket observing the bright screen.
“Who sent you a text?” You ask making conversation.
“Kelsey.” You instantly stiffen at her name.
Riker notices you tense up. “Relax, she just said sorry about earlier and that see did end up getting the part.”
You think a moment debating on how to respond. “Well, I accept her apology but I still don’t like or trust her.”
“Understandable.”
“And I’m glad she got the part, sort of... I guess if I ever audition for anything I’ll be sure to ask you to help me practice.” The two of you reach the car and you turn to him grinning.
“I’d be glad to.” He leans over giving you an eskimo kiss. Both of you laugh until you have to go home.
