Viktor and Natalia knew that a group of vampires and a werewolf were on their way to Siberia. They even knew how long it would take for them to get there. They were just waiting for the right time. So when they went out that day, they brought some weapons with them. They never went anywhere unarmed.
Right now, it was night, and they were sitting on one of the northern mountains in Siberia. They were watching the northern lights dance across the sky. It was a common thing for them, and they were always there to see the lights. They happen every month between August and April.
Viktor and Natalia smiled, which rarely happened, while watching the lights. They used to watch them with their parents when they were young. But at 8 years old, they were ripped away from them, and now all they have left of their parents was a silver ring, which belonged to their father, a silver locket, which belonged to their mother, a journal, and songs that their mother used to sing. Viktor wears the ring, and Natalia wears the locket.
She sighs sadly and starts singing another song their mother sang for them.
Viktor listens to the song, as he always does. They serve as a reminder of their parents. He looks at his sister and holds her hand. She looks at him and sighs again. "YA skuchayu po nim." she says softly. Viktor is the only one Natalia shows her emotions to. After being in that wretched academy for so long, she does not show them to anyone else. Her brother is the only one who understands her. I miss them.
He nodded and says "YA tozhe po nim skuchayu. No my nichego ne mogli sdelat'. Oni ne khoteli by, chtoby my izbivali sebya za eto." He then puts his hand over her heart, which is not beating. "Krome togo, oni vsegda budut zdes', nezavisimo ot togo, gde my nakhodimsya." She nods and hugs him. He hugs her back. I miss them too. But there was nothing we could've done. They wouldn't want us to beat ourselves up over it. Besides, they will always be in here, no matter where we are.
This is how it has been for 115 years. They only have each other left so they always stay together. Viktor helps Natalia with her demons and she helps him with his. They have a really strong bond, and no one can break it. Not even Chelsea from the Volturi.
After a while, Viktor starts sensing minds of other people near their home. Also, he and Natalia are able to smell their scents from far away. She can also feel their presences with her abilities. They start following the scents, physically and mentally preparing for what is yet to come.
