The Ferguson Verdict

Last night around 7 PM, my mother, grandmother, great - grandmother, aunt's, and cousin sat around the family room on the news, when any other night we'd be watching Jeopardy, waiting for the jury's decision on whether or not Darren Wilson was going to prison.

I already knew what the answer would be, and my mother kept making comments such as, "Ferguson's gonna burn tonight." or "What if it was Michael that killed the officer? What then?"

I sat cuddled up in my grandma's arm, staring at the clock, waiting for the time to come.

Then, 7:59 changed to 8:00, and no charges were pressed on Wilson.

My mother instantly got up and said to me "We're going home. Get your coat." after the words left the announcers lips. I didn't object, suddenly, I really wanted to get home and go to sleep.

I'm hurt about the accusation. Other people obviously are too, especially the family of Michael Brown, but I'm upset that you never charge a white man with a crime of killing a black boy.

Trayvon Martin got killed and George Zimmerman got away free, although it's obvious that man is a murderous abusive scumbag who deserves to rot in prison.

Now Michael Brown. Who's next?

I'm scared because who knows where it could be?

It could be my brother.

It could be my father.

It could be my best friend.

And the killer will most likely get away without any charges, because America is fucked up.
