CHAPTER SEVEN : the need to touch

Emerita had an absolute ball of a time playing with the baby. Little Hope Mikaelson. Part of her wondered what it would have been like if she and Elijah had children all those years ago, but then Klaus told her about their long lost aunt Dahlia, who came with a long lost sister named Freya, and how Esther's sister nearly took Hope away because of her magic, Emerita was somewhat relieved that there was never children involved.

The room Klaus had given her to stay in was quite large, but not overly extravagant. Emerita liked that, she likes the simple, uncomplicated things in life. Which brings her to another topic that was completely and totally not uncomplicated. Her husband. Elijah.

She really thought she could do it. She thought she could put a glare on her face, walls of ice around her heart and that would be enough to keep her undying love for Elijah at bay. Emerita was wrong. So incredibly wrong, that it was more frustrating than anything else. How her heart longs for his, how her body wants his touch so desperately, how she wants to pull him closer and kiss him deeply, to show him how much she still loves him with every cell in her body. Emeritas seen how people get married and then divorced in five years time. But no. Not her. A thousand years later and here she is - still as hopelessly in love with her husband as she was a thousand years ago.

Just what kind of love lasts this long?

The next morning, she was still pondering what to do. Not only about Elijah, but also about the prophecy. There are some things that still doesn't make sense to her. Where did Lucien find his seer? What does he know about the weapon that can take them down? Why hasn't he told Klaus about it? How does Tristan know about the weapon Lucien has? What else does he know? What is he hiding from them? Where is his sister, Aurora, and why hasn't she made an appearance yet?

"Good morning, Em." Klaus' way to cheery voice greeted from down in the courtyard as she walked from her room. Emerita looked over the railing and down to him with a raised eyebrow. "Lovely day, isn't it?"

"And what's got you in such a spectacular mood this morning?" Emerita asked, then vamp-sped to his side. She looked at him inquisitively.

Klaus smirked, "Ah, well, you see, I think we'll be getting some information today regarding all of our impending dooms."

Her arched brow raised even higher, "Is that right?"

"Oh yes." The Hybrid nodded enthusiastically, grin on his face. "According to this-" Klaus waved a card in front of her face. "The Strix will be hosting a party tonight and Elijah was invited, which means you're invited."

"And you came to that conclusion, how exactly?" Emerita placed her hands on her hips, not liking the direction that this conversation was taking.

"I hardly think they will deny their sire's wife entrance." Klaus' smirked widened at Emerita's scowl. "Besides, since Tristan already met you, it will be expected of you to at least show face."

Emerita blew out a breath of air, clearly frustrated. "I've said it before, and I'll say it again: we are separated. Get it stuck into that thick head of yours, Niklaus."

"Yes, yes, but like Elijah told you yesterday: being separated doesn't make the fact that you are his wife any less true." The smugness radiated from the Hybrid.
