Chapter 8

(y/n) and Alexis we're walking along the beach, reviewing some glances from passers by, puzzled by their attire

"Hey, Alexis, I- don't really have a bathing suit.. what am I supposed to do about that?"

(y/n) questioned, Alexis laughed

"I brought one for you! Here!"

Alexis pulled out an incredibly skimpy looking white bathing suit, (y/n) was in awe at the sight... oh god- there was no way she was going to wear... -that-

She felt relief wash over her at Alexis's next comment

"Don't worry, that was only a joke- here"

She passed (y/n) a black bikini

"Now- go change!"

(y/n) rolled her eyes... she was happy to see her new friend joking around like this.. she seemed so much more carefree than usual

"Alright alright, sure-"

(y/n) exclaimed, stepping away from Alexis and looking around for a bathroom... though she soon started to get panicked.... there were no bathrooms- she supposed she shouldn't be surprised.. after all- this wasn't the -most- populated beach in the world... though she would feel humiliated changing in front of everyone else, she decided to walk back over to Alexis

"Lexi- there's nowhere I can change around here"

(y/n) frowned, Alexis rolled her eyes, smirking

"Just get changed here, nobody cares"

(y/n)'s cheeks immediately tinted pink at Lexi's comment... not a chance she was going to do that, Lexi was quick to notice her reluctance and sighed

"Fine... if you really feel that uncomfortable"

Alexis walked back over to the plane and pulled something out of it, a large beach towel.. she then strode back over to (y/n) and handed her the towel

"Use this to cover yourself, but I'm not letting you miss out on going swimming just because you're shy"

(y/n) obliged and held the towel up, with the help of Alexis, changing into the swimsuit"

"Lexi- what should I do with my clothes?"

(y/n) questioned

"Just throw them into the sand... or you can put them back in the jet if you'd like, I don't really care"

(y/n) nodded her head and dropped her lab coat, pants and undershirt into the sand

"Well- Lets go then!"

She cheered, running towards the water

"Hey- wait up!"

Alexis called, racing behind (y/n), a soft laugh escaped her lips as her feet hit the water... this was the most happy Alexis had felt in years.. she'd rarely ever been allowed to leave the laboratory.. her grandfather was always pretty strict... his whole life he'd always obsessed over his little 'project' Ethan...

Her train of thought was quickly cut off when she felt her eyes start to sting.. she looked back over at (y/n), she had a cheeky smile on her face- She then pieced everything together, (y/n) had splashed her!

Lexi narrowed her eyes at the girl and pushed her hands forward in the water, sending a wave towards her

(y/n)'s mouth was agape and the water that was sent in her direction made its way into her mouth, (y/n) was quick to spit out the salty water and looked at Alexis in disbelief

Lexi raised her eyebrow, smirking at the girl

"What? Did you think you were going to get away with that?"

(y/n) snickered, looking away and rubbing the back of her neck

"No- It's just you're so closed off.. I didn't expect you to act so, well, carefree"

(y/n) placed both her hands behind her back, intertwining them

Alexis's smile faded slightly

"Yea, well.. I'm just not usually given the opportunity- you haven't known me for all that long (y/n), you shouldn't jump to conclusions"

(y/n) frowned, it seemed Lexi was acting serious again, the air felt tense

"No need to get so defensive Lex... how about we go for a walk along the beach"

Lexi felt herself start to relax and nodded, following after her. She found it funny that (y/n) had made a nickname for her nickname, it was unnecessary- but cute

"So.... do you think we'll be able to go back to the lab soon? We've been here for a couple hours already"

(y/n) asked, at least she thought it had been a few hours, she couldn't really tell since she didn't have a watch or anything, speaking of which- she was starting to miss her phone.. she hadn't been able to use it since she'd started working at the lab. Then again, working with such a beautiful, kind, creature like Ethan kind of made up for it... though she couldn't deny the fact she was having a bit of a fan-fiction withdrawal

"Hey Alexis-?"

Oops- she'd accidentally called her by her birth name, Alexis cringed slightly but turned towards (y/n)

"Yea? What is it?"

(y/n) paused, dragging her feet in the sand, she felt kinda idiotic asking such a question

"Do you think we can stop back at my house to get my phone? I can't stand being without it for much longer"

(y/n) awkwardly laughed, Alexis pursed her lips at the request

"Yea, sure- I'll let you check it later.. but when we go back to the lab it will probably be confiscated"

Lexis expression turned serious

"And -dont- call or contact anyone"

She seemed to be very serious about (y/n) keeping confidentiality, but trusted her enough to at least lend her the phone temporarily. (y/n) huffed

"Fine... I'll just check social media and listen to some audiobooks"

By audiobooks, she meant fanfiction

"Alright- come with me.. I'll fly you back home for a bit, but you'll have to be fast- if anyone from the lab notices you outside were both going to be in deep trouble"

She nervously laughed

"Now come on"

Alexis opened up the passenger door for (y/n) and she stepped inside
