Chapter 4

Ethan, as usual, was keeping to himself, besides when (y/n) had to feed him of course, though his behaviour became slightly... peculiar

He would often sing and chirp, and after doing so for about 5 minutes- he would get angry for no reason and usually fly up onto one of the highest trees in the enclosure to pout-

He'd kept this up for the past 3 days... (y/n) didn't quite understand it but it's not like she could do much about it, she could only send the report to Lexi and currently, Ethan was doing it again, singing and chirping, (y/n) expected that soon the pouting would come yet again.. how bothersome

But she couldn't blame him- after all- he was probably calling out for more of his species, it wouldn't be weird for him to feel lonely every once in a while

She figured she could maybe talk to Lexi about bringing other birds into the enclosure, that's likely the best she could do , as she assumed other harpies weren't exactly easy to find

(y/n) comforted the moody harpy, his head placed in her lap as she ran her fingers through his hair since he seemed displeased with her, she had to hold him down so that she could comfort the male, he clearly didn't enjoy her actions yet she persisted

(y/n) found it near impossible to get to the boy... she would do just about anything to understand him... there had to be some reason he was so distant besides the fact that he was far from domestic

(y/n) suddenly heard an announcement from a speaker that sat in the corner of the enclosure, it was typically used as a form of communication when matters weren't serious enough for Lexi to visit herself

"(y/n), we would like to inform you that we will be bringing in a female harpy in 5 days, so that we can study the species female counterparts and test how the two interact"

An elder males voice boomed

Her eyes widened in shock, her mouth agape... they found another harpy!? What!? Well that's quite a feat. She couldn't help but feel saddened by the news, since she figured it would make it more difficult for her to bond with Ethan

"That's all you need to know for today, I'll update you on everything tomorrow"

(y/n) scratched the back of her head

"How the hell did they manage to find two of these things!?"

She questioned, her mouth still wide with shock.

She shut her jaw, figuring she was making too big a deal out of this.

"Hear that buddy? You're gonna get a girlfriend"

She joked, she knew that the man didn't say that directly, but that was clearly what the announcement implied, after all, they would likely need to understand the harpies mating rituals if they wanted to thoroughly research the species

Ethan just tilted his head and squawked in confusion- he seemed to understand very little English, much like his understanding towards his current predicament

(y/n) smirked and rolled her eyes

(y/n) was of course being provided with her own food, different from Ethan's of course- and nibbled on a peanut butter sandwich. Ethan stared at the sandwich in interest and (y/n) broke off a piece handing it to the young harpy

He held it with his teeth, gently biting down on the piece, and hopped closer to the girl

He took two of his fingers and gently pried open the girls mouth, pushing the sandwich piece down her throat using his tongue. Her face glowed a bright red shade, and she was consumed by confusion and embarrassment
