Connor's pov:

After Hank and I left Rupert's apartment we headed back to the police station to check on how Lilly was doing and discuss the current situation with Captain Fowler. We walked towards Fowler's office first, deciding it was best to check up on her after understanding the situation a bit better.

"I've got some bad news, we can't identify who this girl is. There is no record of her name and even if she was lying about her name, her face still doesn't show up on any files."

"Now, this probably means that her mother (and possibly father as well) lived in secrecy without telling anyone about her unborn child and brought her up somewhere discreet, but even this theory is a long shot because we can't find anyone who could be a possible mother and father for her, even with our technology."

"The girl said that she lived in the year 2020...of course, that isn't possible because of her age, unless, somehow, she was frozen for multiple years and even then the chance of surviving that is highly unlikely, it's a very delicate process and someone would have had to have frozen her on purpose."

"So Idk where the hell this girl came from and unfortunately the orphanages here in Detroit are housing more and more children that nobody wants to adopt, these days people can just get an android child to take care of. It's gotten to the point where they can't house any more orphans and start getting rid of the older ones since so many kids are so desperate for adoption the adoption process doesn't require much."

"This girl's old enough to not be accepted into an orphanage, meaning we need someone to take care of her right this minute, I've asked almost every viable person in the DPD who are capable of looking after her, so far no one is interes-"

"I'll do it," Gavin said, walking through the door interrupting Captain Fowler.

Luitenant Anderson and I stared in shock, trying to process his words. It was strange that someone with so little care for most other people would want to take care of one little girl who held no significance to him, or so I thought. I'd have to look deeper into the situation to understand the way Gavin's mind worked, he was a very curious and complicated person indeed.

"Why would an asshole like you want to take care of a little girl?" Hank asked Gavin, he glared back at Hank but didn't make any snarky remark.

"Are you sure Gavin? Looking after a kid is a big responsibility and you don't have any previous experia-" Captain Fowler started saying, being cut off by Gavin once again.

"I'll be fine, she'll be fine, I'll make sure nothing will happen to her," Gavin said sounding sure of himself.

It was strange hearing those words come from Gavin and I'm sure Hank would've found this stranger then I did since I haven't known Gavin for long.

"Well, I don't trust you with her," Hank said, growling a little, "I'd prefer having her in my care than yours."

That last part caused a silence among the group.

"Hank, you can't be serious, after what happened last time..." Captain Fowler started saying, sympathy in his voice.

"Don't even start," Hank growled at Fowler, "I know how to look after a kid and I'll look after another one if I have tah."

'What does Hank mean "again"? Did he have a child before this?' I thought, deciding best not to ask.

The tension was thick through the room, Hank and Gavin glaring at each other.

"That's enough!" Captian Fowler yelled.

Everyone stared at Captain Fowler.

"Let's ask the little girl for herself and see what she thinks," Captain Fowler said.

The two nodded in agreement and went to the girl's cell. While we were gone, it looked like the place was made homier and comfortable. It seems everyone at the DPD tried to provide for the young girl, I could see bits of things here and there with cards on it and some with signatures of the people that gave them to her. There were comfy seats, a proper mattress and pillow, accessories, clothes, it seemed like a normal room more than a cell at this point. It seemed like the officers here really cared about the girl, unfortunately, it looked like a lot of them were physically unable to look after her. I had scanned the cards and saw what they said, a lot being apologies for not having room in the house, having too many kids already etc. I felt bad for Lilly, whoever's care she's in, I hope she's happy. This stuff is nice and all but she needs a proper home, she can't just stay here.

"Lilly, I've found two people who are willing to look after you, Gavin Reed and Hank Anderson, I don't want to have to force you to make a choice but we need you to decide who's care you want to be under for now, at least until we find your parents," Captain Fowler explained to her.

Lilly looked between Hank and Gavin, then she looked at me like she's begging me to help make a choice, I just shrugged, not knowing what to do.

"Whoever I stay with...will you let me see the other person? Cause I really like both of your company," She asked, curious.

"If we have to..." Gavin and Hank said at the same time, reluctantly.

Lilly giggled at the two of them and they both looked away embarrassed.

Lilly sighed, not knowing who to choose...

Gavin?

OR

Hank?

For the story that I want, Gavin is the recommended choice but I guess if you want the story to focus more on Connor and Hank's story you can stay with them. I probably won't be able to do both choices but if this story gets more recognition, then I might do it. For now though, whatever the majority of comments will pick will be what choice I will go with. If the votes are more split or no one picks then I'll lean more towards Lilly staying with Gavin. Also if you choose to stay with Hank and Connor (I guess), then the story I had for Gavin and about his past will pretty much not be improved on and will just focus on the main events of the game, so if you like those kinds of fanfictions I'd recommend this choice. But if you want a more expanded story with little twists and turns with less of the main plot but more focused on character relationships and a bit of a mystery, I'd choose to stay with Gavin.

Pls, comment on your choice so I can see what you readers want for the future of this story, bye for now!
