"Your voice."

I swallowed a big lump on my throat, still couldn't believe that someone heard me. That someone was still here! Nice move, Mi.

I did what I was known for, I stayed quiet.

But he didn't stop.

"It was your voice, Mi."

I got my phone and typed, "You're not making sense, Clef. Di mo ba narinig sa kanila na mute ako?"

"I'm not deaf and I take pride in my wonderful sense of hearing... also, from what I know, you've never even said that you were mute. People just assume that you are because you talk through your phone." His left eyebrow went up a little as he talked, then he started walking closer towards me.

I continued taking steps back but I hit the mirror as he caged me, giving me no space to escape.

I got my phone and typed, "Please let me go. The voice you heard? Not me. Baka minumulto ka lang.. or baka naman, from the music I was playing awhile ago."

And just my luck, thank the heavens! You know the saying 'saved by the bell'? Except it wasn't a  bell but it was my phone ringing. Notifying me of my Kuya Do's call.

I picked up in an instant, still in between the glass mirror and Clef's body.
"Where are you, Mi? I've been waiting at the lobby for a few minutes already!"

I didn't answer him, he knew better than to expect a word from me.

"Mi, just hurry up here. Okay? It's already 11 pm and you haven't had dinner yet."

Then he hung up.

I quickly typed out, "Naghihintay na ang Kuya Do ko sa lobby. Gusto mo bang isumbong kita dun?"

Clef quickly gave me a space before he said, "Just so we're clear, di ako takot sa Kuya mo... slight lang. Mga 1/2." then he laughed a little.

"But this doesn't mean that I'm going to pretend that I didn't hear you sing awhile ago. This doesn't mean that I'm letting go of your voice, Mi."

His face went closer to mine and whispered. "Your voice.. tagal ko na yan hinahanap. Bakit ko pa ba yan bibitawan?"

I slightly pushed him away and shoved my phone to his face, "Please. Just leave me alone, Clef."

I thought to myself, bakit ba kasi kumakanta dito. Hay nako Mi.

"This isn't over, Mi. I'll see you tomorrow!" he called out as I ran pass him, picking up my duffel bag on the way out of the studio.

As I ran quickly down to the lobby, I couldn't get his grim face out of my face. I knew for a face that I couldn't give him what he wanted. I couldn't give him something that wasn't mine anymore.

Breathe in and out, Mi. Pumunta ka muna kay Kuya Do, then dun ka na magpanic. Gaga mo kasi, may pa kanta-kanta ka pang nalalaman. Hmp.
Gee, thanks self.

"Oh, anong nangyari sa'yo? Bakit ganyan mukha mo? Minulto ka ba sa dance studio mo?" Kuya Do laughed as he continued, "Sinabihan ka na namin ng Kuya Re mo na, one of these days, you'd be haunted since you always leave the studio so late!"

I stayed quiet and he didn't mind it. He was used to his baby sister not saying anything.

Kahit na ang dami kong gustong sabihin. But can't. I sighed.
