Yoongi was snoring again. Everyone else was always complaining how loudly Namjoon snored, but obviously they hadn't had to share a room with the second eldest before. It was absolute torture.
Jin grumbled quietly before flipping his pillow to the cool side. This hotel room was so hot and with Yoongi's loud snoring, getting to sleep was practically impossible. Why couldn't they have just gotten individual rooms for all of them?
Just his luck. Getting any sleep on tour was rare, and now this opportunity to get some rest was slipping out of his reach.
After a particularly loud snort, Yoongi's even breathing filled the room. Jin sighed.
He was just starting to drift off when, all of a sudden, Jin's phone started to ring.
Holy, who calls at this hour? Surely it isn't Jungkook having a nightmare? Or Tae losing one of his precious Gucci shirts?
Jin glanced at the number before picking it up. The number was from Korea. Groaning the entire time, he reminded himself to talk quietly so Yoongi wouldn't wake up.
"Hello?"
It was his cousin. A person who never usually called him.
"Yeah Mi-Kyung what's up? You know better than to call at this hour, it's night here."
Jin received no answer. Only quiet sobs from the other end.
"Mi-Kyung?"
Jin sighed and tried to lower his panic. It was probably nothing. She was probably complaining about how she was going to miss watching his performance.
"Mi-Kyu-"
"Your parents... you know?"
"Of course I know my own parents!" Jin snapped, before realizing something. "Wait. Did something happen? Nothing happened right? Everything is okay, right?"
Mi-Kyung let out a loud sob, leaving Jin to wonder if Yoongi had heard her because he wasn't snoring anymore.
"What happened?!"
"There-there, Seokjin... there was a crash. Seokjung was with them too."
"What?!"
Yoongi was definitely up now. Jin could see him sitting up in his bed. The rapper looked stunned to see Jin screaming into his phone in the middle of the night. But the eldest couldn't focus on that right now.
"What-what happened?" Jin's voice was shaky.
"They are saying the other driver was drunk, I don't really know. They're trying to save Seokjung but the others... I'm so sorry, I don't know how to say it but they couldn't save them-" her voice abruptly cut out, making Jin wonder if this was all some sick joke. His parents were gone? This couldn't be happening. He had talked to them just last night, everything had been fine then, what was happening now, he couldn't understand.
Jin took a deep breath. At least his brother was alive and alright. He tried not to think about his parents, he didn't want to tear up right now; he needed to be strong for Seokjung. Even then, a chill ran down his spine.
"He's okay, right?"
"Who?" Mi-Kyung sounded confused. "The driver or Jungie?"
"Both, I guess?"
"The other driver is fine. The police are looking for them. Seokjung, well, not really. He might be in a coma, I-"
Jin held his breath when he heard loud sirens through the phone. He had no clue what was going on.
"Hey Seokjin, I'll call you back later okay?"
"No wait-" Jin stopped talking when he heard the hang up beep. She had hung up on him, leaving him floundering in a sea of darkness. Jin wasn't a great swimmer in this kind of water.
People said shock or denial was common after getting this kind of news. Jin felt weirdly empty. He found himself staring blankly at the wall. He couldn't believe something like this had happened. Things had happened too quickly. He couldn't comprehend this. She could've just called him as a prank, nothing had probably happened. This was probably a bad dream.
Yoongi walked to Jin and crouched down in front of him.
"Hyung?"
Bad dream, yes, just a bad dream... he pinched himself.
Jin flinched hearing Yoongi's voice. He looked scared, the rapper noted.
"Is everything okay?"
As if on automatic, Jin nodded. Yoongi wouldn't believe him anyway.
"What happened?" Yoongi asked.
There was concern in his eyes. Jin shook his head. They only had limited time available to rest, why couldn't Yoongi just sleep? Normally the rapper went full predator mode if someone woke him up.
"Hyung, please." Yoongi said again.
"Nothing." Jin willed his voice not to shake.
An audible sigh left Yoongi's lips. Unlike Jin's wishes, he sat up on the eldest's bed and pushed Jin down onto his pillow. Yoongi smiled shyly and tucked Jin in securely. He walked back to his bed.
A strong wave must have washed over Jin because he almost immediately wanted Yoongi to be beside him. Maybe Yoongi would be able to provide some sort of comfort to him.
"Yoongi!"
The said man got up again without complaining and walked over to the eldest. Yoongi seemed to get the hint without Jin telling him, laying down beside him and wrapping him in a hug. The eldest snuggled into him, trying to bury his burning eyes and heaving chest into Yoongi's sweater.
"Just-"
"Yoongi-Yoongi... my parents are gone and my brother is on the brink of death as well."
