Seokjung cannot die, Jin told himself. Call him a weakling, but he didn't want the pain to increase. He knew that he wouldn't be able to take it if another tragedy took place. That was so selfish. Didn't he want Seokjung to get better so they could get through this mess together? Jin didn't really know. All he knew was that Seokjung couldn't die. He would fall apart even more.
Yoongi and Jimin decided to stay with him all through the day. A small part of him was thankful beyond measure, but another part despised their choice. Why couldn't they have gone out and enjoyed themselves? Jungkook was right, this was the last free time they had available in a long time. The concert was in a few days and the rehearsals would start up tomorrow.
They knew all this, so why couldn't they just leave him alone? Plus, when he started breaking down, he wanted to be all by himself. He didn't want the others trying to preach nonsensical words to him so he could calm down. He didn't even know what to feel.He felt like he had been punched in the chest. The tears he had shed in the morning had faded away long ago. Longing for himself to burst into tears proved to be useless. It just wouldn't happen. Jin was like a rag doll for his emotions to throw around. He was totally at its mercy.
Jimin made him get up to eat lunch around noon. The mochi refused to let Jin skip all his meals. Too bad Jin could barely swallow anything. Yoongi shooting him concerned looks weren't helping, instead doing the opposite. Jin just wanted to sleep and wake up when everything was normal.
He knew what was going to happen after Jimin forced him to eat. Within moments, he was crouching in front of the toilet, throwing up. Thanks a lot Jimin. Now he had to deal with a burning throat on top of his aching chest.
Yoongi was beside him the whole time, rubbing his back, telling him it was okay. Jin didn't know how to tell him that nothing was okay. He didn't know how to function properly, let alone perform at a concert.
Jimin acted like he knew what was going on. He made Jin go to bed after he threw up, claiming he needed "rest". Didn't he understand that Jin needed to cry, not rest?
--------
Toxic thoughts rained down on Jin when he woke up to his phone ringing. He couldn't believe he had actually fallen asleep. Worry making his hands shake, he picked up the call. He didn't know what had happened and the apprehension made his heart race.
It was Mi-Kyung again.
"Why did you hang up on me like that last time? Did you not know I was worried? How is hyung an-"
"Jin."
Jin held his breath as Mi-Kyung said his name. The way her voice wavered, the way she sounded like she was near breaking, it could only be one thing. He could fall down to his knees and beg that it wasn't the news he didn't want to hear. Subconsciously, he could feel tears crawling down his face. No, he didn't want to cry anymore. He would rather have the bone-crushing pain eat him alive.
"He-he... didn't make it-"
Jin couldn't process what he was thinking anymore. The phone flung out of his hand and went sailing across the room. He let out a strangled cry. This couldn't be happening. First his parents and now his brother. He was in a bubble. He had been wrong the whole time. Jin was being swallowed up this whole time. He had been trapped in his own stupid illusion this whole time.
Arms wrapped around him, he didn't know who it was but he allowed himself to fall into them.
--------
Jimin quietly hugged Jin, feeling the eldest shake violently in his arms. Yoongi picked up Jin's phone and talked to Mi-Kyung for a bit before softly thanking her and setting Jin's phone back on the table next to the eldest's bed.
Yoongi left the room. He knew Jin would get overwhelmed if too many people crowded him.
Maybe Namjoon would know what to do.--------
Jin didn't want Jimin to hug him. He really didn't. Then why was he so relieved when the mochi stroked his hair and rubbed his back? Was Jimin the net instead?
The emptiness was starting to get to him. Wasn't he supposed to be crying right now? Wasn't a person who had just lost their parents and brother supposed to be on their knees, crying their heart out right now? But here Jin was, unable to cry, feeling like his only connection to the real world was Jimin's hands gently soothing him.
Jin was thankful Jimin was there. He really was, even if he couldn't express it properly.
