Years past and a lot has happened. They defeated Lotor and Zarcon, they found out there were more Alteans out there, Shiro was a clone, they freed Earth from the Galra and everyone's family was safe. Keith reunited with his mom and they made a lot a friends and helped rebuild cities.

But...Keith still hasn't confessed yet and he doubted he'll never get the chance to.

He over heard that Allura and Lance had gone a a date by Romelle and Pidge and his heart crack . And when Lance joined him to watch the sunset it only made it shatter.

He had waited too long and it was too late. Lance had fallen for someone else. And too be honest, Keith was happy for him. Allura was a beautiful princess with amazing abilities and incredible patience while Keith was...Keith. A hotheaded leader with nothing special to offer except his heart and his blade.

Keith was currently training in the Altlas ships training room. They had lifted off to go find Hagar a few days ago.

He was distracted and his slow movements were the result. He didn't want to think but his brain never did what he wanted anyway.

"What's on your mind, Keith?" The mullet boy jumped back to see Veronica standing in the doorway with her arms crossed. She had that curious face that reminded him so much of Lance. Screw the McClain family and their similar features.

"Oh um nothing. I was trying to figure out a new move my mom showed me a while back," he said, only to get a bored face from the woman.

"Bull crap." She walked in and let her arms fall to the side. "You've been doing the same move you've been doing for days. You would've figured it out already if that was the case." She sat on the floor and gestured him to do the same.

With a sigh, he fell on his butt, his blade turning back into a knife. "I've just been...sad. Too much to think about it feels as if my brain's about to explode."

"What have you been thinking about?" Veronica asked, adjusting her glasses. Keith went ridged. Should he tell her? Well...it's not like it matters anyway.

"Lance..." he muttered quietly, hanging his head so his hair covered his face.

"Oh...." she said confused. After a few moments of silence she gasped. "Oh. OH! Oh no Keith I'm...How long?"

"A few years."

"THAT LONG?!" she screeched. "How did my brother not notice! He's such an idiot oh my--ugh..." Keith laughed as Veronica pinched between her nose. "In all honestly, I'd rather you be with him instead of Allura."

Keith raised a brow. "Why is that? Allura is good for him and I'm... me."

"And that's why. He doesn't need someone who is 'good for him.' He needs someone who feels equal to him. Allura has expectations placed on her back, Lance doesn't. He needs someone who is not protecting him because he's a 'paladin of Voltron', but is protecting him because they love him. Allura may like him romantically, but she does not feel the same as Lance does." She pushed her glasses to her face. "I'm having a hard time explaining what I feel. I just don't feel like she's the one for him."

Keith had to blink for a moment before he finally processed all the words. "But...it's his heart, he can give it to whoever he wants to. Who am I to tell him otherwise?"

"Because you gave your heart to him and he was oblivious to it. He used...he used to talk about you a lot when he was attending the Garrison training. Saying how annoyingly pretty you were and how talented and that he disliked you because he was jealous." She snickered as she saw Keith's eyes light up.

"That's why he considered me a rival."

"Yep. But he'd always talk about the battle simulations and how you hated working with people and was always at the top of our class until you got expelled for beating a kid to a pulp."

"Yeah...James..."

"Still, he admired you a lot back then. He usually notices when people look at him. But I guess he didn't even though his bisexual self was flirting with everyone he saw."

Keith's brows shot up. "Bisexual?" Veronica blinked before she sighed.

"You didn't even know did you? How dare he. First he doesn't notice you and then he leaves you wondering if he'll love you back. What a prick." Her phone beeped and she stood up. "I'll talk with him later."

"Don't. I don't want to influence his relationship with my feelings," Keith pleaded. She nodded with a small smile and waved bye, leaving Keith with his shoulders light. Having talked about it made him feel lighter since Veronica, Lance's sister, was on his his side.

POV switch~

Veronica was furious. All that time and Lance failed to notice. Heck, she knew something was up with Keith as soon as Allura and him had their first date.

She peaked into Lance's room to find him and Allura laying on the bed cuddling and she instantly wanted to throw up. She liked Keith, Keith was funny, cute, smart and strong and liked people for who they are. Hell, he fell in love with Lance when Lance wasn't even trying. Keith loved Lance for who he is and not for who he wanted him to be and if that doesn't say something then love doesn't exist.

"Ahem, Lance?" Veronica said, knocking lightly. Allura sat up and Lance did the same with a confused expression.

"What is it?" he asked, standing up.

"I'd like to talk to you for a moment. Alone if that's okay?" Veronica didn't like that she had to emphasize that. If it was Keith she wouldn't have to ask permission.

"Oh-Okay? I'll be right back." He kissed the top of her head as he followed Veronica out of his room and down the hallway to hers. She didn't want to take the chance that Allura followed even though she doubted the princess would.

"What do you want? Is it important?" Lance asked as he flopped on the edge of the bed. Veronica locked the door behind her and she crossed her arms angrily.

"I just found out that someone had fallen in love with you, who's not Allura by the way, and you have failed to notice and now they're trying to deal with their broken heart."

Lance's jaw dropped as he jumped up, baffled. "You're lying."

"I wish I was, Lance. And it was so obvious they cared-no, care for you too like are you blind or just in denial?" Veronica cleaned her glasses with her jacket. She could feel her brothers eyes searched her for any sign of falsehood only to come up empty handed. He placed a hand over his mouth in disbelief.

"Who is it?"

"They told me not to say. But you've known each other for years and they told me a lot. I like them because they're strong and kind enough to suffer for you. I broke the promise I made to them by telling you because they don't want to influence your relationship but I don't give a crap. You're my brother and I'm gonna influence it because I don't like your girlfriend one bit."

"Then how do I know you're not lying to make me break up with her?"

"Because I'm not trying to make you break up with her. I'm trying to understand why you didn't notice before. You're not stupid Lance, but you sure as hell can be oblivious to some people." Veronica's phone beeped. It was a text from Keith, asking if she wanted to hang out.

"I...Who is it? Who fell in love with me so I can apologize? Please, you can't just tell me this and not expect me to-"

"That would probably make it worse. And don't tell Allura, she doesn't need to know and get jealous over something so insignificant. The damage is already done and they..." Veronica though for a moment as she typed 'yes' in he phone. "He cares enough for you to put his own feelings aside so you can be happy. He's much kinder than me."

Veronica turned on her heel and walked out, leaving Lance to figure out who loves him.
