I let out a low groan, pain etched throughout my body, making me feel as if I've been run over by a horse. I blinked open my eyes, my vision blurry for a few moments, before clearing. I looked around with my eyes, too afraid to move my head, afraid to worsen the pain.

I realized I'm in a room, with a table on the opposite end with medical supplies, herbs, and scarlet red bandages scattered across the table. The sun's light shone through the window, scattering its golden rays across the room.

I propped my arms from under me, pushing myself off the bed slowly. I feel a hand grip on my shoulder, "Don't move, you will open your wounds." I look up to see Malik, his expression unreadable. I allowed him to push me back onto the bed, I look past him noticing a hooded figure in the corner, his arms across, his gaze was focused on his feet.

"How long was I-"

"A few days. The doctor already told Mentor the situation and you are currently on medical leave." Malik informed me, sitting back in his chair which was right besides my bed.

It was quiet for a few moments, the only sound being the wind moving the cloth curtains. "What were you thinking!?" Malik questioned loudly, his hand clenching into a fist.  I flinched slightly at the sudden change in volume."What you just did was reckless and suicidal!"

"Malik." Altair warned, looking up slightly.

"No, Altair! She has the here this! She could've gotten killed! What then huh!?" Malik ranted, making a few hand gestures.

"I would be fine regardless, I've dealt with worse." I put in, yawning.

"I doubt you went up against an entire army!" Malik countered, glaring right at me.

"Well now I have." I said with a sly grin, Altair chuckled slightly.

Malik, however, didn't even crack a smile. Instead his frown widened. "This isn't funny (Y/N)." Malik said with a serious tone. "You could've been ..." He trailed off, looking down at his lap. He let out sigh, look back up at me with a stern look, "For the entire month you are off assassin duty."

"What!? You can't do that!" I growled, glaring at him.

"Malik, I don't think this is best." Altair says, pushing himself off the wall and walking over to the other side of my bed.

"Shut up novice." Malik growled, glaring up at Altair with more hate than I have ever seen his eyes held before. He then looked back down at me saying, "I can order you stay out of trouble, I'm in that position now." I then notice a smirk beginning to tug on his lips. Was he ... teasing me?

I was confused, one minute he wants me out of his life and the next he's ordering me around and teasing me like nothing happened. I was broken out of my thoughts as the doctor came to the door, giving the doorway a slight knock. "Mentor requests your presence Malik." The doctor said.

He then notices me, a smile forming on his face, "Good you see you finally awake (Y/N). Sooner than expected as usual."

"It's all thanks to you doctor." I say with a curt nod.

Malik leaned close to my ear saying softly, "I'll be back." I blushed lightly due to his closeness, watching him in shock as he got up from his chair and left.

"He hasn't left your side since." I look over at Altair, he looked at me with his usual look except something odd glistened in his eyes. "He's been having too much time on his hands while I have to do work." He complained.
