Y/n's POV

"Ponyboy! Y/n, wake up. Come on," Johnny said as he shook us awake.

"God, what time is it?" Ponyboy asked Johnny.

"I don't know. I went to sleep, too," Johnny stated. That got me nervous.

"Darry's gonna kill us," I then said with a worried tone in my voice.

"You two better get home, all right? I'm gonna stay all night here. Who'll care anyway?" Johnny told us.

"All right. If you get cold, come on to our house," Pony told Johnny.

"Yeah, all right," Johnny said as a response.

"What is Darry gonna say? Come on, Y/n," Pony said as he grabbed my hand and made our way to our house.

Once we made it passed the front gate and onto the front porch, we saw Darry through the window. He just got off of the phone and then went back to reading the newspaper.

Ponyboy then opened the door for us to enter. Darry then saw us and he looked mad.

"Where the hell have you two been?! Do you know what time it is?!" Darry said as I stayed close to Ponyboy and looked down. "It's two o clock in the morning, kiddos," Darry told us.

"Hey, Ponyboy, Y/n, where have you two been?" Soda asked in a calm tone.

"We fell asleep in the Lot," Ponyboy answered as he led me to the bathroom.

"You what?" Darry questioned.

"We were talking to Johnny and we fell asleep in the Lot. We didn't mean to," Ponyboy said as we entered the bathroom and Pony turned on the faucet to the sink and picked me up so that I can wash my hands.

"Yeah? Hey, and I can't even call the cops because you two would be thrown in a boys' home and Y/n would be thrown in a girls' home so fast, it would make your head spin," Darry told us as Pony used a towel and dried my hands.

"Come on, guys. Let's go to bed now," Soda then spoke up.

"Look, I said we didn't mean to!" Ponyboy said as we exited the bathroom.

"'We didn't mean to!' 'We forgot!' That's all I every here from you!" Darry yelled to us. That got me scared. I don't like how Darry yells to Ponyboy, so I stood up for him.

"Come on, Darry..." I tried sticking up for Ponyboy.

"You be quiet! I'm sick and tired of you sticking up for him, you hear me?!" Darry yelled at me. That got me really scared now. My eyes then started to fill up with tears.

"Don't you yell at her!" Pony yelled at Darry, trying to stick up for me. And then, something surprisingly happened.

Darry hit Ponyboy.

Once Ponyboy hit the floor, I ran up to him, still in tears, to see if he was all right.

"Ponyboy? I didn't mean to," Darry said, but Pony didn't listen to him. He quickly picked me up and ran out the front door.

Ponyboy ran with me in his arms until we made it to the Lot, where Johnny was sleeping. Ponyboy then put me down and tried to wake up Johnny by shaking him. It took a few seconds to wake him up, but he did.

"Come on, Johnny! We're running away!" Ponyboy told Johnny. Johnny didn't ask why. He just ran behind us.

We then stopped at some point and I started sobbing. Ponyboy then pulled me in his arms to comfort me. I then heard Ponyboy sobbing.

"Take it easy, guys. It will be all right, man. Just cool it, man," Johnny said.

"You got a cigarette, Johnny? I'm scared to death," Ponyboy asked Johnny as he let go of me and got out his lighter.

"Well, don't be, man. You're scaring me. What happened?" Johnny asked as he gave him a cigarette. I then went up to Johnny and hugged him.

"Darry yelled at me and hit Pony," I answered as Johnny hugged me back.

"I swear we used to get along just fine until mom and dad died! And now he can't stand me!" Ponyboy stated as he lit his cigarette.

"I think I like it better when the old man's hitting me. At least he know I'm there," Johnny told us.

"Come on, let's walk to the parks and back. Maybe I'll cool off enough to go home," Ponyboy said as he put his arm around Johnny's shoulder. Johnny the put his arm around me as we walked to the park. I just hope I'll cool off, too.
