Story:

"What time is Taehyung picking you up?" Yoongi asks through the phone, and Jimin pulls away from the mirror for a moment to check Taehyung's message from earlier.

"Supposedly in about ten minutes. I'll send you the pictures tomorrow morning. Isn't it like twelve a.m. where you are?"

"It is, but I wanted to talk to you before you left. And while I'll enjoy the pictures, I already know that you look beautiful."

Jimin laughs, then, and winces when he manages to wrinkle the collar of his shirt, so he pauses his panicked fluttering about just long enough to fix it, and glance at the eyeliner that he had put on a few minutes before to make sure that it hadn't smudged in the small amount of time he hadn't checked it.

"This is probably why no one wants to be in group chats with us anymore. We're one of those couples."

"I'll compliment my boyfriend as much as I want."

"I know, and I love you for it," Jimin checks the time and sighs. "Taehyung's going to be here any minute; I've got to go. Do you want to video chat tomorrow?"

"The regular time?"

"Should work for me."

"I'll talk to you tomorrow, then. Love you!"

"Love you too! See you tomorrow."

The dial tone sounds, and Jimin know that Yoongi has hung up for the night. Logging into their regular chat server, Jimin double checks that he is, indeed, going to bed. Sure enough, Yoongi's profile icon is gray.

There's a knock on the door, and Jimin slides into his shoes before going to answer it. When he ascends the stairs to the foyer, his mother is already conversing pleasantly with Taehyung, Jimin's platonic date for the night.

His eyes rake Jimin's figure, and he smiles. "Yoongi's going to freak out when he sees you."

"You think so?" Jimin asks, and Taehyung's smile turns into a smirk full of mischief.

"I'm positive."

He and Jimin's mother exchange a look over Jimin's head, and he's tempted to ask what it is that they know that he obviously doesn't. Before he can, however, his mom is pushing them outside for pictures, and Jimin is too busy trying to negotiate exactly how many she would be taking, for both his and Taehyung's sakes, to question their suspicious behavior.

And then, in an instant, all rational thoughts evaporate, because Yoongi is standing in front of his garage door, holding a single dandelion.

He's partially aware of Taehyung pushing him forward gently and his mom taking far more photos than necessary, but all of his focus is on Yoongi.

"I know it's a bit late of me to ask, but, Jimin, will you go to prom with me?"

Jimin nods, unable to say anything for fear of crying. He's rooted to the same spot of the sidewalk, so Yoongi steps toward him and hands Jimin the dandelion, which he neglects to take in favor of staring.

Yoongi smiles at Jimin, and it's the same smile that Jimin's been in love with for a year, and no matter how low-quality the video is, it's the same slightly crooked, gummy smile. In person, Jimin can see every aspect of his face, and can finally tell exactly what color Yoongi's eyes are.

"Jimin," he whispers, and he's pinning the dandelion to the pocket of Jimin's jacket. Jimin's mother presses the boutonniere that was supposed to be for Taehyung into Jimin's hand, and with shaking fingers he pins it to Yoongi's lapel.

"You're here," Jimin replies, testing the words, unsure if this is a dream, and unable to pinch himself to test that theory.

"Surprise."

Tentatively, Jimin reaches out to him, highly aware that this will be the first time he's touched Yoongi (other than pinning on the boutonniere, which barely counts), and for a moment it is awkward while they try to determine where their hands should go. But, then Yoongi's hands find purchase on Jimin's lower back, and Jimin's arms wrap loosely around Yoongi's neck. He presses his cheek to Yoongi's shoulder and inhales his scent; warm and musky and foreign in the way only he could smell.

"Jimin," he sighs after a few minutes, and attempts to pull away. "Pictures."

"If I let go, you'll disappear," Jimin murmur, and somewhere behind him, Jimin hears Taehyung whisper to Jimin's mother that he'll handle pictures, and Jimin is reminded that it was most likely him who orchestrated the whole thing, because he knew how much Jimin had wanted Yoongi to be here, but was too afraid to ask. It was Taehyung who introduced them, and Taehyung that helped them admit their mutual attraction. It was Taehyung who talked Jimin through the nights that Yoongi couldn't be there.

"Besides, I have to make up for the last year of virtual affection." Jimin pulls back enough to look Yoongi in his dark, dark eyes. "How are you here?"

"Officially, I'm here to look into producing programs here in the states, and while I do have to do that, I'm here for a week and I want to spend it with you."

Taehyung clears his throat, and both Yoongi and Jimin turn to face him.

"This is cute, and god knows I'll mention it at your wedding, but if you want to make an appearance at the prom, we should get going."

Yoongi gently removes Jimin's arms from around his neck, and intertwines their fingers as they make their way to Taehyung's car.

Yoongi is still smiling at Jimin after they fasten our seatbelts, and Jimin asks him, "what?"

"I was right; you do look beautiful."

Jimin blushes, and when he and Taehyung make eye contact in the rearview mirror, he mouths a quick 'thank you,' and Taehyung blinks slowly in understanding.

Later, after the dance, when Yoongi falls asleep in the seat next to Jimin, head resting on his shoulder, Taehyung replies, "it's no problem, Jimin. I'd do anything for you."
