Derek jumped out of the car before anyone could stop him.

"Derek!" Stiles shouted.

His blood pulsed through his veins faster than ever and his mind filled itself with worry, imagining what now could happen to his longtime friend and lover. Derek quickly glanced over to Stiles with teary eyes as Isaac swapped places with him and set his hands on the steering wheel. He started the car and Stiles yelled after him. He turned to Isaac.

"What are you doing! He can die!"

Isaac was torn on the inside but held it together and quickly sped away with Derek's silhouette diminishing in the distance. Stiles started crying heavily as he understood this was all a part of Derek's plan--Derek's plan to protect him. Scott was sitting in silence. He didn't seem ready at all to deal with the situation. Stiles simply couldn't stop crying and that was unusual for him. Scott hadn't seen him like that before since normally Stiles stops being upset then ends up joking about it? Now, that wasn't going to happen and of that Scott was sure of.

"I want to help him! Please, just drive back! Please!" Stiles said repeatedly as his tears streamed down his face.

He didn't understand how they could be doing this.. How could they leave Derek to die in this way? Suddenly, Isaac pulled over by the road. Guilt was eating him up from the inside out, and that was visible even to Stiles. He looked into Isaac's empty eyes, black circles around them, and then he nodded. They just sat there for minutes. No one knew what to say or do. Stiles continued to cry as he came to realization that he was about to lose Derek Hale forever.

Derek struggled, laying on the ground and attempting to crawl away as Gerard pointed a gun to his head. Wolf's Bane was probably spread around the area or Gerard's companions had it in their pockets. Derek could feel it.

"Oh, Derek. Still as brave..." Gerald said insensitively.

A tear slowly fell from Derek's chin down to the ground of cement.

"But still so vulnerable," Gerard smiled.

He took a few steps around Derek's lifeless body and studied him.

"I will kill you, Derek. You know that, right?" Gerard continued.

He aimed his gun straight to Derek's brain and was just about to pull the trigger when Derek fought back, throwing himself at the old man. However, he was too weak. Gerard pushed him away and laughed. He re-aimed and now pressed the gun so hard to Derek's chin that a part of his skin glued itself to the gun.

"At least, you can now meet your old and filthy werewolf family again..."

Without Gerard noticing Derek let his nails grow rough and sharp. He then pushed them into Gerard's skin and the old man screamed. He barely looked as he was able to move. And in that moment, he knew he was about to die. His eyesight slowly got worse--backgrounds were fading. He tried to fight it but it was impossible. Towards the end of his battle, he slowly tried to get a grip of his gun once again. He leaned for it and grasped it. Quickly, he fired it off and the bullet went straight through Derek's mouth. It bleed and Derek crawled away. He tried to heal but it just didn't work!

Gerard's son Chris and the hunters ran down. Chris looked down to his dead father--inspecting his lifeless body and wide open eyes glaring at him. He took the gun, laying by his side and pointed it to Derek. His face was red with anger and as he held the gun it begun to shake alongside with the rest of his body. Derek, who was way too weak to properly see instead heard something--a voice. Stiles' voice.

"Stop!" Stiles burst out, throwing himself to the ground beside Derek.

Chris' gun now aimed towards the both of them.

"Please, stop!" Stiles cried.

He looked at Derek and listened to him breathing. He sort of snorted, cleared his throat, instead of actually breathing normally. It was as if he wasn't receiving any air.. Chris lowered the gun and immediately felt guilty. It dropped to the ground. Seeing Stiles crying reminded him of his own sadness and the loss of his father. Perhaps, it was only right to leave them alone. He walked away.

"I'm a-already de-dead Stiles.." Derek coughed up blood. "Wait, I-I-I can see some-something!" he continued. "A light. It ke-keeps on co-coming closer... "

"NO!" Stiles cried. "No, Derek. No, it does not!"

He leaned over Derek's body and hugged him as carefully as he could.

"Co-come closer," Derek whispered and Stiles leaned his ear closer to Derek's bleeding mouth. "I-I know that I'm playing tough and stuff but you're th-the real hero he-here. Remember that. I have always loved you, Sti-Stiles. I was just too much of a coward to admit it,"

Tears streamed down Stiles' cheek.

"Don't--cry," Derek used up his last strengths.

Stiles blinked for a brief second and there it was. Derek was no longer with him. His eyes were still looking at him but they were empty. Stiles just waited and waited for Derek to blink again but he just didn't...

Tears from Stiles eyes were smeared around Derek's face. They were like glue on his lover's cheek and mouth. He couldn't remember how many times he had kissed Derek but soon enough he could feel his own tears on his lips received back to him. The once strong werewolf now was just laying there--lifeless--on the ground of cement. Stiles studied his love's bright face and tousled black hair. He thought about his smile and the way his face looks when he's happy about something. Then, he thought about how warm he really was and of how misjudged he continued to be until the very end. Last but not least, he thought about how a world without Derek simply can never be.

You always think the person you're closest with will stay with you forever. You take people for granted. What is sad when it comes to the reality of things is that sometimes life doesn't go that way. You are never safe from anything.
