Chapter 5

Linsy turns towards the owner of the voice. The corners of her mouth lifting up with happiness as she sees Mrs. Kingston going down the stairs.

"Good morning, Mrs. Kingston" she bows respectfully towards the woman who shakes her head and held Linsy to raise herself up.

"My dear, you don't have to be so formal. It's like we don't know each other for years. Your formality is unnecessary so don't worry about being comfortable around our family as we treat you as part of it" the woman's words cause Linsy's heart filled with warmth, something she somehow lacked throughout the years.

She looks at Jiro momentarily who smiled softly at the sight of her and his mother, "So, um, please excuse me for this sudden visit Mrs. Kingston,I-"

"It's no problem, darling. You can visit us whenever you want. In fact, when you and Jiro decided to get married, you already have my blessing!"

Jiro blushed furiously at that and Linsy got startled and starts frantically swatting her hands, "I-I, ah, I think you got the wrong idea about that, Mrs. Kingston. Besides, we're too young for marriage, I'm n-not saying that I... l-like Jiro that way, I mean I do like but not in a way that you're implying" Linsy feels her blood rushing to her cheeks and burries her face on her hands.

Jiro purses his lips and is trying his best to divert his attention away from the topic so he stares at the flower vase at the corner of the room.

"But I did not say that you like him, dear. I just said if you ever get married, you have my permission" Mrs l. Kingston gives Linsy a teasing smile and a wink.

Linsy opens her mouth to say something but Jiro cuts her off, "How about we get something to eat first? I'll get Richard to cook us food."

"Oh, that will be great, son."

After Richard made some simple fish fillet with white sauce for their snacks, the three individuals sat altogether in the dining room.

Linsy stares at the food in front of her with her mouth slightly agape. She can actually feel that her mouth will water if she stares a little longer at the crispy fish. Instead, she takes a quick scan at the room for a bit.

The dining room is almost no different as the beauty of the mansion's view outside. Both are absolutely stunning with gold accents that complements the walls and at the long wooden table and chairs in the middle.

Mrs. Kingston clears her throat catching Linsy's attention, "Linsy, dear, I will not be around you both for long. I'm going to have to leave any minute after this so I'll expect you two to have some fun and don't do anything naughty."

Jiro choked on his food and coughed hard at his mother's words. Linsy quickly offers him a glass of water which he gladly accepted and drinks up.

"Son, you have to chew you food more carefully. You got me worried there" she pats Jiro's back soothingly to calm him.

Jiro nodded and leans his back on the chair. His eyes diverts at Linsy and lingers there for a moment. He purses his lips and looks away. He couldn't bear to look at her any longer at this time now that his mother almost blew up his cover,he's afraid of what would happen if Linsy finds out he likes her. Jiro hopes that she would not get any clues at his mother said earlier.

He absentmindedly poke his food with his fork.

Linsy, on the other hand, glances at him, wondering why he is quiet all of a sudden. To be honest, what his mother said earlier made her feel awkward too and he probably feels more awkward because surely he doesn't have any interest in her more than a friend.

The room stays silent, not until a door bell was heard outside.

Mrs. Kingston stands up from her seat and bows slightly, "My apologies but I'm afraid I will have to answer that. You can chat with each other until I get back" she grips the upper part of her dress' skirt and then takes her leave.

Jiro lets out a sigh of relief at his mother's temporary absence, "Well, that was.... uncomfortable. I hope you're still used to her behaviour" Linsy looks at him in the eye and replies, "Yes, I still am but that was so sudden" they laugh as they remember their situation earlier.

Jiro scratches the back of his neck, "You know, it wouldn't be so bad if you'd come live with us."

Hello, I'm sorry guys if the chapters are kind of long. I write the chapters of this story every time I'm bored so.... yeah.
