“What are you? A coward?”

It was a ball, everyone was now staring at the two in the middle. Nightmare and his glare and Ink with his arm outstretched, the smuggest smile on his face.

“Scared to get your hands dirty prince?” Ink continued to mock, and perhaps Nightmare was close to snapping him like a twig.

Yet when Nightmare stepped closer he didn't flinch, he kept his hand outstretched his smirk growing when Nightmare gripped his hand.

“I am no coward.” His eyes burned a bright cyan, perhaps he was entertained, or enraged, it didn't matter. All that mattered was how he pulled Ink closer, wrapping an arm around him, “and don't call me prince.”

Ink hummed and wrapped an arm around the other before tugging them into a dance, “will see”

Nightmare's fingers twitched a bit when Ink took the lead, letting them have their moment before tugging a bit and snatching the lead. “There will be no will see,” a pause “you can call me Nightmare. Just for tonight”

“I think I prefer lord sarcasm more” Ink sneered, letting Nightmare lead.

“I don't.”

“Too bad” he then moved to spin Nightmare out before pulling them back in, grinning when Nightmare seemed to be amused.

“You, I like you” he allowed Ink to take the lead for the moment, “you're much more entertaining, unpredictable”

“I think it's called being feral” Ink replied, “though I gotta admit your pretty entertaining yourself”

“Hm”

The two continued to dance and somehow the crowd was wondering how the two weren't trying to murder each other. As they continued to switch who led, who spun the other. Perhaps it was for they couldn't see the amusement in Nightmare's eyes, or the absolute pure chaotic energy in Ink's. It fueled the dance, and somehow kept Ink alive.

For now of course.

The dance would soon end, Nightmare dipping Ink. Ink in all his smug energy lifting a leg up and earning a soft chuckle out of the other.

When he pulled Ink up, and Ink lowered his leg, Nightmare moved to cup Ink's cheek.

“Meet me on the balcony” Nightmare mumbled before pulling his hand away. Letting a finger run under the others chin.

“Will see,” Ink replied with a wink before turning to head into the crowd, his smug energy never fading.

Nightmare smirked a bit at the wink, watching Ink walk away before turning and heading towards the balcony.

Nobody asked questions.
