The ball, Empireverse
Dream was standing at the entrance to his palace, Ink by his side, as he greeted people who entered. The two were wearing masks that only covered there eyes, considering they aren’t really trying to hide their identities. It was honestly, however, Dream’s first Masquerade Ball. He decided to host one do to the recent attacks in hopes it would bring up some people spirits. Yet now he was regretting this considering one of Nightmare’s people could just easily waltz right in and he’d never know. Dream didn’t voice this fear however, he made sure guards were well aware of what could happen and to be ready.
However, Dream didn’t expect a man with most of his face covered up by a mask to walk almost directly up to him. Atleast, he didn’t expect a warm smile from them. Dream nodded his head in greeting while Ink kept a close eye on the person.
“Good evening my lord,” the person said holding out a hand. Dream blinked at the voice and its familiarity before just pushing that all aside. He gripped the persons hand and mumbled a greeting back. Dream was expecting a hand shake, but what he got was the person pecking his hand while he looked directly at Dream and winked. Dream felt his face heat up as he became completely flustered by the persons actions.
Dream would have questioned the person further but it seemed he couldn’t get his words together. The masked person chuckled to this and left Dream flustered and confused.
“Do you know them? I can’t say I have ever seen you so..” Ink spoke up as he snorted. Dream quickly waved a hand in his face trying to silence him, which only made Ink laugh. “Aw~ Dreamsys gotta cruuusshh!” Ink teased as he noogied Dream. Dream only whined, Ink didn’t know how bad this was!
He didn’t know that Dream was dating someone else!

Dream leaned on a wall as he watched his guests dance around the area choosen for the event. He sighed softly, he felt bad for turning down guests offers to dance but he just didn’t feel up to it. He kept thinking back to the entrance and that one person….
“His voice was so familiar..” Dream mumbled to himself as he put a hand up to his mouth in thought. “It can’t be any of the guards… I told them to wear half masks so I could know where they were… And I don’t know to many citizen voices other then by greetings… So why is this one driving me up a wall..?” Dream continued to mumble to himself, not even noticing the figure lean onto the wall next to him. Crossing his arms before he let out a huff startling Dream out of his thoughts.
“S-sorry, do you need some.. thing..?” Dream said as he looked at the person but ended up trailing off. It was the person who pecked his hand.
“Not really, Just wanted to make sure you were alright. Its not like you to stand around and do nothing,” The person replied.
Dream nodded, yes, that was quite unlike him. “I’m fine.. Thank you for your concern.. But that is unneeded.” Dream looked to the people dancing around a small smile forming, “I’m fine as long as my people are happy and safe..” He looked back to the person smiling more.
The person nodded, “as always… I guess that’s what I found.. Admirable about you..”
Dream blinked at the persons response, “admirable..?”
The person nodded yet again, smiling a bit, “admirable.”
The two continued to chat quietly as the ball continued on behind them. Dream pretty much laughing at some point not even able to respond. The person chuckled, smiling brightly. They didn’t even notice the ball ending and people leaving.
The guards glanced over at the two, but figured Dream could handle this and decided to stay near by but not too near. Ink and Blue however, hid nearby to watch Dream and this person.
It took Dream and the person awhile to notice they were the only two in the room. They blinked surpised but then ended up laughing.
“Well that was fun, all we did was talk and we missed everything!” The person said in pure amusement.
Dream giggled and nodded, smiling wider. “Who would have known… But you know.. You’re quite admirable yourself.” Dream replied elbowing the person. The person chuckled.
“Admirable?”
“Admirable.”
The person nodded before stepping away from the wall, “well I feel this event would be more admirable if the two of us danced.. Even if its well.. Over” he snorted softly as he held out a hand.
“Hm.. I guess it would be..” Dream replied as he gripped the persons hand.
The person pulled Dream out into the open so they wouldn’t bump into any walls before he pulled Dream closer. The two got into position before dancing to an invisible tune.
“You know.. Now that no ones really here..” The person said as he continued to dance. Dream nodded for then to continue. “I think I should show you who I am..” Dream blinked but then nodded a bit quicker. The person chuckled before he stopped the dance. He slowly reached up and pulled off his mask to reveal.
“Cross!?” Dream whisper yelled. Cross chuckled softly before pulling Dream closer.
“Saying admirable to strangers hm~?” Cross said in slight amusement.
“Yea but- its you!! What are you doing here!? What if you get cau-” Dream was cut off to a kiss pressed to his non existent lips. Cross slowly pulling off Dream’s mask before flinging it away.
“If I get caught.. Then oh well.. Right now I just wanna be with you..”
Dream smiled before hugging Cross and burrying his face into his chest.
“Cross..”
Cross wrapped his arms around Dream and pecked his head.
“I love you.. Dream.”
“I love you too Cross.”
The two continued to dance to an invisible tune, wishing for the night to never end.
