Charlie awoke to find his cell repaired and the man with several other scientists working around him. Charlie felt the glass for a way out but was drawn away from his search when the man walked up and knocked on the capsule. "You are just full of surprises Charlie. It seems my original intensions for you have changed into something new...better." the scientist said with a twisted smile.

The scientist held a tablet up and began to explain, "This here is what I made you for, it is called the Firestorm Matrix. However you have this right here". The doctor swiped on the screen showing Charlie's tests. "Something in your DNA sequence created something else, unlocking a new array of abilities. One that not only provides you with nuclear pyrogenic properties but also cryogenic." The scientist said with a hint of excitement in his voice. Charlie looked at his captor and said, "What do you mean what you made me for..."?

The scientist rolled his fingers on the tablet and huffed as if a surprise was ruined. "Well I didn't want to spoil the surprise but it seems we need to jave the talk. You see I created you with the sample of two...subjects, one who had access to the Firestorm Matrix which I was tasked with replicating. It seems that your mother's sample has something unexpected with in it's genome that you inherited to make this...Coldfire Sequence." The scientist said sitting down at a desk.

Charlie looked down at his hands then realized something, "So you know who my parents are"? The scientist nodded and continued to type on the computer. Charlie began to bang on the cell trying to get his powers to work, but the scientist began to laugh. "Sorry Charles, but since your power's full manifestation, you are now unstable. The power dampener in the cell is allowing your body to stabilize to this molecular change." The doctor explained. Charlie slumped down onto the floor of the cell and began to course his fingers through is newly white hair, trying to think of a way out.

A few days had passed and Charlie was still stuck in the cell and scientist were working around the clock giving him no private time to figure a way out. It stared at the scientist and then an idea formed in his head. "So...what do you plan to do with me?" Charlie asked not hesitating to start his plan of escape. The scientist looked up from his computer screen and replied, "So it speaks once more...well son, it is simple. Once I figure out how your Coldfire Sequence works, I will weaponize your fire half, and convert your ice half into a new energy source for the planet. It will make our country the strongest and most power efficient country in the world, no one will be able to stand against us". Charlie sat there eyes wide, surprised that the man's plan was so thought out and that he just openly shared out the plan without hesitation. "I don't know about the world domination part, but if I help you, will you tell me who my parents are?" Charlie asked. This caught the doctor's attention and he got up and approached the cell. "Yes...I suppose I can give you that much..." The doctor agreed.

The next day Charlie was transported to a large warehouse like building with several different objects representing targets. "Now are going to hit the targets, fire or ice it doesn't matter, but we need to find a base line for your abilities." The scientist said as he began to tap on his tablet. Charlie played along so as not to seem suspicious and he attempted firing something at the targets. Oddly enough he rotated between firing ice and fire every time he attempted to hit a target. After an hour, he finally got a target, and the training had officially begun.

Weeks of tests turned into months and the day came when Charlie felt it the right the to escape. He had figured out the basics to flying out and his aim had greatly improved. Once they arrived at the training warehouse and suited up, he made his move.

Charlie punched the ground as an inferno burst between test subject and scientist. He the aimed for the ceiling above. Once the intense heat hit the material it melted as hoped. With a flick of his arms, his hands and head burst into flames and he projected himself through the hole. At first when he made it out, he was blinded by the sight of sunlight, but once his eyes adjusted, he picked a direction and flew away.

"What shall we do now?" One of the co-scientist asked. "Nothing everything is going as I hoped. He is still wearing his suit, so I can track him and receive feedback on his power status. I will soon have everything I need to replicate the Coldfire Sequence." The former A.R.G.U.S. scientist said.

Charlie continued to fly for what seemed to be hours until he finally found a town. He landed on the side of the road in front of a sign that said "Smallville". Charlie made his walk into the peaceful town where he walked into a coffee shop requesting a phone. When he began to dial the number, he stopped remembering how his parents didn't do anything when he was out in the hospital quarantine. He then returned the phone and left to get a computer. He went to the library and found the website and his account with the results from his genealogy report.
