"Heeeeeey guys..." Toaster yawned, walking down the stairs.
It was early in the morning, and A was in the kitchen cooking eggs for breakfast. Mile had just moved in yesterday, and their next housemate, Adaline, would be moving in later that day. They had already gotten everything arranged, and were just waiting for her to show up. They didn't know exactly when she would be there, and they were all anxious to meet her. Especially A.
"Hey Toaster." A said, glancing up.
"What are you doing up so early, A? We don't have work today." Toaster questioned while stumbling over to the kitchen. He was still half-asleep.
"I figured I'd help Mile out this morning, sense he doesn't really know the area too well yet."
"Whaddaya mean? Hasn't Mile always lived in Edgeshire?"
Edgeshire was the name of the place they lived. It was a big, busy city in central New Jersey.
"No, I used to live in Florida. With my parents." Mile said, walking into the kitchen. "But I left to go to college here. That's why I needed a place to stay."
"Ohhhhh.... that makes sense." Toaster said, slowly starting to doze off. "Wait... you go to college...?"
"Yeah. I'm studying robotics."
Toaster lazily pointed at Mile and laughed. "Haha... college boy... what a loser..."
"Toaster? Are you okay?" Mile questioned, slightly concerned.
"Nerd." Toaster then slammed his head against the kitchen counter, making some plates and utensils fly up into the air. He had fallen asleep again.
"Jeez! Is he okay?" Mile asked.
Without looking, A responded. "He's fine."
Toaster's unconscious body then slowly slid off of the table and landed on the ground with a loud thud.
Mile winced. "Are you sure?"
A emotionlessly stared at Toaster for a few seconds. "Yeah."
It had been a couple hours since that morning. Mile was still at college, while A and Toaster were at their house. A was watching a movie in the living room.Toaster looked over at A and noticed the movie that he was watching.
"Don't you hate that movie?"
"Yeah."
"Then why are you watching it?"
"Because I hate it."
Toaster stood motionless, trying to understand what A had said. "What?"
A turned to look at Toaster. "I basically feed off of my own hate. It's how I get energy."
After a few minutes lost in thought, Toaster gave up. "Nope, I don't get it."
"It's an acquired lifestyle."
The doorbell then rang. They knew it wasn't Mile, so they were left with one other option of who it could be.
"ADALINE!" Toaster yelled, running over to the door.
"Jesus Christ, you're going to make us look likes idiots..." A mumbled, walking over to the door with him.
Toaster quickly threw open the door to see Adaline standing there, with a few bags of her stuff.
"Hi Adaline! Welcome to our house!" Toaster yelled, clearly ecstatic to have another housemate.
"Hi! You guys must be Toaster and A, right?" Adaline said.
"Yep. Come on in." A said.
"Thanks! So this is where the three of us will be living then?" Adaline then looked over to the living room to see an abundance of air mattresses that were yet to be opened. "Or... the ten of us?" She said, quickly counting the boxes.
"Actually, eleven!" Toaster said, unaware of Adaline's change of expression.
"Oh... I didn't know anyone else was going to be here." She replied, looking confused.
"I'm gonna be honest, I already explained this story once, and I'm not looking to explain it again. So..." A said, turning to look at Toaster. "I'm leaving this one to you buddy."
"Wait! A!" Toaster exclaimed, but A was already walking away.
Toaster sighed. "Fine, I guess I'll do it.."
Adaline giggled. "Are you two always like this?" She asked.
"Yeah, we're great friends, and we really care about each other!" Toaster said, smiling.
"That's not true." A yelled from the other room.
