This is a drawing I did of Travis' death :( (Don't worry he lives in ONWARDS) Inspired by "Ultimately" by "khai dreams" (Travis dies after Cayde, btw.) Travis dies due to blood loss from his chest and his paw/hand (depends on whether we're going for cat or humanoid), which got cut off at the same moment his Ghost, Ruby, was killed. He got knocked out first, then when he woke up, he was alone. So, knowing he was going to die, he limped over to a secluded area, carrying Ruby, and basically talked himself to death. I can imagine Travis looking up at the sky and talking about how much he misses Cayde, and that he'd see him soon.
