"He said what?!" Thorn gasped when I told her what the man had said.
"He said-" I began to explain it again.
"Yeah, yeah. I know what he said. It's just suprising that the strange man said such a thing." Thorn explained.
"I didn't think a dragon could be so smart!" I laughed. Thorn flicked the back of my head with her tail. "Let's get riding." I said. I placed the saddle on Thorn's back, and climbed her leg to sit on it. "Spread your wings now." I instructed. Thorn did as told, and began to flap.
"Hey! I'm doing it!" Thorn yelled happily, as she began to lift off the ground. When we were about five feet off the ground, I leaned forward. Thorn followed my movement, and flew forward.
"Try it on your own." I suggested. Thorn circled the house a few times, then landed on the grass. I took hold of her shiny red horns. "Let's go to Maddie's house." I steered Thorn the way we needed to go, and pushed forward as hard as I could. Thorn began to pick up speed, and soon, I could feel the wind in my face.
"Is this what it's like to be a bird?" Thorn wondered out loud.
"I don't know!" I yelled over the wind. "I'm not a bird!" We soon landed close to our destination; not too close, that would attract attention. Thorn flew up to her window, and tapped a claw on it. Before I could protest, Maddie opened her window.
"Hi!" Thorn said. I waved at my friend.
"Why are you here, Kat?" Maddie had a perplexed look on her face.
"I'll tell you." I said. "Get on." Maddie climbed through the window, and sat behind me. "Thorn, you know how to get to the forest." Thorn nodded, and sped off to the forest I'd been hiding her in.
