When we reached the barn, my father stopped the truck so that the workers could take the "stallion" and put him into a stall before we started to work with him. He didn't say a word to me while he opened the truck door and got out, closing the door behind him.

I stayed in the truck and moved a hand through my hair, feeling guilty about taking her house away still. "What if this was a big mistake?" I asked nobody in particular, guilt rising in my chest because I had a feeling I knew how much that stallion meant to her. "What if we shouldn't have taken him away from her?"

My father opened the door after I had mumbled that to myself and scowled, not liking me still being in the truck. "Come on," he said, his voice leaving no room for argument. "Stop thinking that we had made a mistake. We didn't. Get out of the truck and help then unload him into his new stall."

I bit back a sigh and nodded my head. "Yes, Sir," I said. I opened up my truck door and hopped out of the truck while my father got into the truck. I walked over to the trailer and peeked in to see eyes of brown staring back at me. "Wow," I muttered in awe over the supposed stallion. "You look to be a beaut."

The horse whickered hesitantly. His nostrils flared, and he let it out. His whole body was tense, and I had a feeling that Ella was the same way. He was afraid. He had no idea what was happening, and I knew that she would be feeling like that as well.

"Come on," I said softly. "Let's get you out of there, ya? Are you going to behave?" I scowled and narrowed my eyes, and the "stallion" snorted and nodded his head as if to tell me that he was going to behave for me. "Good."

"We're ready when you are, Señor, (Sir,)" one of our jockeys and workers said. Fernando walked over to me with Alec, and he looked nervous. "Are you ready to get the horse out of the trailer?"

I nodded. "Is the stall ready?" I asked. I walked over to the door that entered the trailer and opened it. I had a feeling that it was, but I wanted to make sure before I got him out. I didn't want to wait for them to make sure that the stall was ready before then.

"Sí, Señor, (Yes, Sir,)" Fernando said. "The stall is ready for the horse." He cleared his throat and looked away before he looked at me. "Dr. Paige Ren is on her way to check him over. She said that she had known him since he was a baby."

I bit my lip and bit back a sigh of relief. My whole body relaxed, and I was grateful that we would have the same vet that they had. "He isn't a stallion, is he?" I asked, looking at the two men that seemed to know who Blue was and the female that owned him.

They shook their heads, no, and I bit back a scoff and rolled my eyes. They stayed silent, and I wondered if they knew that I knew or not. However, they did not ask any questions because my father was seated in the truck, waiting for us to get him unloaded so that he could move the truck.

"Figures," I muttered and stepped into the trailer. "Easy," I crooned when the gelding whickered nervously and backed away from me. "I'm not going to hurt you." I cupped my hands together and blew slightly, and the gelding pricked his ears and watched me. I blew in my hands again, something that I found out worked to calm some horses, and I hoped that this gelding would slowly but surely calm down as well.

The gelding placed his muzzle in my hands and breathed out before he breathed in, taking in my scent. His whole body became slightly relaxed, and I could tell that he trusted me, even though he didn't really know me. Still, his ears were pricked forward, and I could tell that he didn't know what to think about this place.

"I'll bring you some sugar cubes when I come to visit, ok?" I mumbled, remembering that Ella said he would do good for them. Slowly, I reached out and patted the gelding's neck, remembering what Ella had said about him being head shy and skittish about anything new. I knew that meant I had to be careful with my movements because I did not want to freak him out.

I grabbed his lead rope from where I had placed it and hooked him to the end of it before I unhooked the piece that held him to the trailer. "I know, this is scary," I mumbled when he lifted his head and snorted. "Easy," I crooned again, and he snorted. "You're safe. I promise."

"Señor? (Sir?) Are you ready for us to get him out?" Fernando asked, and Blue snorted and walked a bit forward but stopped when I steadied him. "Can we unlatch the door to the trailer?"

"Yes," I replied. I rubbed Blue's neck, making sure that he wouldn't try to run. "I have him hooked up to a lead and ready to back him out."

The trailer's back opened, and Fernando unlatched the back part that blocked Blue's way out. As soon as he was out of the way, I clicked my tongue and started to back him out, ensuring that my movements were gentle and filled with purpose.

"Easy," I crooned again when he snorted and tried to back up faster. I gently pulled on the lead and got him to slow down. "You're safe. Nothing will harm you while I'm here. I promise."

I'll make sure that you are safe for Ella. I will do anything in my power to get you back to her. I promise.
