Briar's POV

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  After showering and drying my hair I put on my usual touch of makeup and started my search for clothes. Eventually I settled on a knee length, emerald green dress, hauntingly similar to Adrian's eyes, and paired it with black flats. I threw my hair in a messy bun and ran down to meet Adrian since I was, as usual, running late.
  But then again I like to make him wait, it's not like I owe him anything to be on time, I would much rather be punching out my frustrations on a punching bag than going out on a girly dinner date.
  He stood waiting with his back to me. He was wearing what looked like a red button down with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows, since it is the middle of the summer. He had black pants on and his hair was neatly combed into place, but he had yet to shave his stubble. I took a deep breath and walked up behind him, wrapping my arms around his shoulders while doing my best not to shudder away from the thought of touching him.
  "Hello sir, have you seen my fiancé? He's incredibly hot and amazing."
  He tuned and wrapped his arms around my waist as I did my best to keep smiling.
  "Sorry, I haven't miss. But, I think I could fit that description pretty nicely." He winked at me and I rolled my eyes.
  "Did I mention he is also very arrogant?" I let out a yelp as he dipped me and leaned in close.
  "Arrogant hmm? I call it pure and utter confidence." He gave me a swift kiss before pulling me back up.
  We walked out to the car, a black convertible, I convinced him to get after two years. I hated that carriage, it was so 1500's. Besides who goes anywhere by horse these days? His reasoning for keeping it was that it was classy and cheaper than getting gas, I argued that he was richer than gold. Of course with a little smiling and a kiss, I eventually got my way.
  Twenty minutes later, nineteen of which I spent asking where we were going, I found myself at my favorite Chinese restaurant, The Black Dragon. We walked in and were lead to a table overlooking the darkening sky and a large sparkling lake that reflected the lanterns hanging on the balcony.
  It's times like this that I REALLY have a hard time hating Adrian.
  Okay, breathe. He deceived you, lied to you, he's an evil, backstabbing, betrayer, killer. I let out a breath I didn't realize I was holding and found Adrian starring at me.
  "You okay? You seem....tense." He questioned.
  "What, no I'm good, great, um this is, it's um, wow yeah great yeah." I stammered. I looked away quickly as he watched me a moment longer.
  After we ordered out food, I got chicken with vegetables (yum). We sat in silence for a while. I twirled my finger around the edge of my water glass, doing my best to avoid looking at Adrian.
  "So...." I glance up at him, looking at me expectantly.
  "Sooo....." I replied.
  "Well, the wedding is in three months and-" I flinched slightly at the word wedding, not that he noticed, or at least didn't let on that he did as he continued talking.
  "We haven't decided on anything. Venue, food, guests, your dress...." He trailed off and looked at me for a reaction. I've been avoiding all wedding talk up until now, I'm trapped. He's good at traps isn't he? I thought bitterly to myself. He cleared his throat and I snapped my thoughts back to him.
  "Oh yeah well, I guess we can have it wherever, and well food is food so anything sounds good, guests. Well I don't really know anybody, Kaylee, I guess." I grew sick at the thought of how Clara should have been here. She'd know what to do; actually I wouldn't be in this situation if I had just won that fight. I sighed, frustrated with myself.
  "Well I guess I will just make a list of places, people, and food and then we can chose form there?" I gave him a slight nod and a weak smile so he'd think I was interested.
  "And what about your dress? You could go-" I cut him of happily.
"Look! Our food!" I eagerly took a huge mouthful of chicken to push off the topic of picking a wedding dress.
  That would make it too real; it would make all of this offical. I'm not ready to accept this, I refuse to marry him, and I can't marry him. I hate him!
  "But Briar, I think we need to talk about this." He stated. I shook my head.
  "Food now, talk later." I took two more huge mouthfuls to avoid continuing the conversation. The lanterns around us got dimmer.
  "Briar?" a muffled voice spoke to me as the room began to spin. I stood up quickly but it felt like I was moving in slow motion. I grabbed my stomach and tried to stand and take a step forward so I could find a place to go and throw up, but I found myself face to face with the ground a moment later.
  I heard voices around me, yelling, panicked, arguing. A hand grabbed my shoulder and I yelled as I reflexively kicked out at them, my foot coming in contact with something, or someone. I looked around to see people talking to me but I heard nothing but a buzzing noise as the darkness overtook my vision.
