Briar's POV
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I walked into the dining room to find Adrian waiting. I slid into the seat across from him to find a plate of awkward shaped...pancakes, I think, and strawberries.
"What's up with the deformed pancakes?" I inquired. He looked at me, feigning hurt.
"I made them! They're shaped like hearts. Because you know, I heart you, you heart me, we heart pancakes...." He trailed off when he saw the look I was giving him.
"What? I'm trying to be romantic here!" He protested as I did my best to cover my laugh. I have to admit it's pretty cute and if he wasn't who he was, I would probably have kissed him.
"I know, um good try, babe." I cringed internally at calling him that. Everytime I try to be affectionate towards him it's like trying to swallow poison, after awhile you build up immunity, but it's still leaves an unplesant taste in your mouth.
We sat in silence and ate the unusual pancakes. I glanced up at him. Over the past few years he hasn't changed much. Still as strong as ever, with his brilliant green eyes, short black jet hair, and a slight five o'clock shadow. I snapped out of my thoughts when I noticed him smirking at me.
"Checking me out hmm?"
"No." I snapped.
"Yes, you are." He teased.
"Nope."
"You are so-" I cut him off, annoyed.
"No. I wasnt." His playful smile disappeared and he looked at me confused. Crap.
"Okay, I'm sorry." He said. We sat in silence a while longer until I stood up to leave.
"Briar, wait."
I turned back to him as he walked towards me. He looked like he was afraid if he touched me he would break me. It made me hate him more, it made me want to punch him.
"They're getting worse right? The nightmares I mean." I sighed seeing where he was going with this.
"Look I really don't want to talk about it." he grabbed my hand as I began to walk away. I turned around quickly, about to sucker punch him, but stopped when I looked at him. For some reason I couldn't bring myself to do it.
"Just hear me out." I looked at him and nodded for him to continue, interested in where he was going with this.
"I think we should sleep together." My eyes widened and I took a step back. His eyes widened too when he saw my reaction.
"No, that's not what I meant! Unless, of course you want-"
"NO!!!" I yelled a little too loudly. He smiled
"Okay, okay, I get it. I mean sleep like actually sleeping, in the same bed. Maybe your nightmares would go away if we're together. Plus we are getting married soon...." He looked at me.
"Um yeah....sounds great." I squeaked. He smiled at me again.
"Great! I'll have the servants move your stuff in later." He gave me a quick kiss and I gave him a weak smile as I walked off to the training hall. I had some steam to work off. I wrapped my hands up. Two now ruined punching bags later, I was about to start on another when a hand wrapped around my waist.
"You know, you look so hot when you're all sweaty and mad." I elbowed him in the gut and escaped Adrian's grasp.
"Ow." He rubbed his stomach and I shrugged apologetically.
"Don't startle me." I stated.
He didn't scare me of course, I heard him walking before he even came in the room.
"You've been in here for hours; you missed lunch so now I'm taking you out for a birthday dinner." I began to open my mouth to protest but he didn't let me.
"No arguing, go shower since you smell so nice, dress pretty like you always do, and meet me at the door in one hour." He turned and left me.
I groaned. I don't like going out in public with him, people always tell us how cute we are and shit like that and it's so awkward, I hate it. I want to tell them he's a faker and so am I, that he's a huge ass but I can't. I punched the wall, hard, and went to change for another night of playing the cute and deeply in love fiancé.
