I've been sat in this room for about an hour or so but due to the lack of clocks for the exams, there's a chance I'm wrong. The bottle of water that sat next to me tasted like shit, the room was stuffy and I couldn't understand why I was in here still.
"Ethan? You still with us?" Mr. Amherst clicks in my face
"Why am I still here?" I angrily protest
"I still need you to explain to me what happened"
"Alex starting arguing with me, he threw the first punch I got sent out but I didn't do anything"
"What were you arguing about?"
"We needed to be in pairs, he comes and sits next to me. Starts asking how I've not been arrested yet and it seems weird how everyone I've had issues with has ended up dead"
"Seems a bit weird he'd come over and just straight up ask you that, did he have any grounds?"
"His dad's on the force"
I could see him scribbling down notes on a bit of paper, the words Alex. arrest? fight ensued. Ethan "didn't" start it. sent out. Alex riling up, and a doodle of what looks to be a pair of handcuffs tied to a bed frame - Whatever that's supposed to be.
"What's your next lesson?"
"Science?"
"Ethan how nice to have you here" Mr. Renzo loudly says throwing his keys on the desk and plopping himself down on the chair. "Shouldn't you be in class?"
He looks at Mr. Amherst who is shaking his head and scrunching his nose. I dart my eyes over to him and he just smiles uncomfortably.
"Shouldn't you?" I shoot back, he slumps in his chair and opens up his computer completely ignoring my question.
"Right well I've gotta go see Mr. Richmonds so please don't cause too much trouble in your next lesson" Mr. Amherst announces to the room before getting up and leaving.
I whip out my phone to see the time, 11:34, almost time for the bell. Upon leaving the office I make a detour to the bathroom I was drinking the water out of boredom. It was peacefully quiet in the boys room and didn't smell like whatever brand of lynx was currently popular.
"Hey Ethan" A voice says as I turn the tap off, I spin round and see Elliott hobbling in with his crutches
"Hey, uh Elliott. I didn't know they still made you come to P.E with your leg?" I reply
"Yeah they make me come all the way up here, register, and then send me back down to the library or something. It's annoying but for health and safety I suppose it makes sense."
I turn to leave the changing room but as soon as I open the door Alex's little brother, who is the same size as Alex, stands there with his entourage behind him.
"Well well well, if it isn't little Ethan. Is this where you've been hiding? Has Mr. Renzo helping you hide out away from all the drama?" He mocks
"Rian, move. I've got a class to get to and I just don't have the energy for you" I sigh and try and get passed.
"No. Make me fucker."
I take a deep breath and turn around to try and get through the back door instead but Rian grabs my shoulder, spinning me around and slapping me in the face. "Where the FUCK do you think you're going?"
I cannot be arsed for this, I'm tired and hungry. I don't need Alex's little brother trying to pick a fight with me too. Throwing my fist forward without getting pushed back with quite a bit of force by Rian and his mates was proving difficult. He punches me in the head, his ring catching the side of my temple and causing a massive headache. I slump on the floor, right in the corner and hide my head behind my fists with a feeling of defeat inside me but this doesn't satisfy Rian. He grabs the scruff of my jumper and pulls me into the changing room for the outdoor sports, throws me into the wall and jumping into my chest causing a burning sensation in my chest.
I have no fight, no energy and no anger left in my body. I feel the hatred for Rian but no way of enforcing it.
Until now.
I spring into action, lifting my feet into his chest and flinging him backwards into the benches.
"What the fuck?" He shouts before charging towards me but being quickly intercepted by Mr. Renzo
"Ethan, buddy c'mon lets go" Mr. Amherst says holding out his hand and pulling me out of the back door into the fresh air. "You alright?"
"It's not my fault. It's not my fault. It's not my fault" I repeat.
He looks at me and awkwardly smiles "I know, we know. Rian started on you by not letting you out of the door"
"I need to get to lesson" I say starting to walk away from him whilst swooping up my bag and speed walking towards the building.
Inside the school seemed so loud, it seemed so busy and so bright. Everyone seemed so close yet so distant without a need or care.
"You're late" Mr. Singh bellows without turning around from writing on the board "Do you have a note or are you just. that. tardy?"
"I've uh, no I've been uhh-" I start but he cuts me off
"Stop fumbling and get to your seat. We've got a lot to cover this lesson and frankly, Ethan, I cannot be bothered for your useless excuses for why you could not get to my lesson on time"
He throws my book at me as I sulk to the back of the class and hop onto those uncomfortable science stools. We're learning about atom mass and how each weight affects the density of each element, or something. I'm not really listening and I don't think anyone else is. Aron and Karim were sat in front of me talking about the fight with Alex.
The sooner the lesson ends, the better.
