Betty's POV

There's no way. No way in hell.

Cheryl Blossom is not dead. She can't be dead. Jason Blossom is dead, not Cheryl.

"Dead?" Lara Jean's voice cracks.

We're all standing around Veronica, in shock and disbelief. I can't wrap my head around this. I can feel my breathing start to get shallower and my brain starting to overreact. I can't have a panic attack right now.

I try to force my body to stop but, of course, that doesn't help. I can hear that everyone around me is talking, but all I hear is a distant hum. I find myself reaching out to the person next to me and firmly gripping their arm. I concentrate on breathing slower and eventually I can hear Veronica speaking again, but I'm still freaking out inside.

Cheryl Blossom cannot be dead.

"It was awful," I heard Veronica say. "It just opened up its awful head and tore her to pieces."

I suddenly wish I had been listening more intently because now I'm confused.

"Are you sure that's what you saw?" Jonathan asks. "That doesn't seem....possible. No offense."

"I know what I saw street scum," Veronica snaps. "Why would I make that up?"

"Ok sorry," Jonathan mumbles as Archie starts to speak to her again.

"Ok Ronnie, where was this?" He asks her gently.

Veronica shrugs. "I don't know, we went to Pop's for lunch and we were driving back through some random neighborhood."

I'm finally calming down a little bit and I let go of the arm I was clutching. I look beside me and see Peter. He looks at me and I mouth "sorry," but he just looks at me and then back to Veronica.

"It can be hard to find then," Nancy says. "There are many places between here and Pop's."

"Is the car still there?" Archie asks.

"Yeah, I ran away," Veronica says,  wiping the tears from her cheeks.

"I'll call the police," Lara Jean says, pulling her phone out of her pocket.

"That won't help," Kavinsky puts in. "There's no address and they won't believe us if we tell them that a monster ate Cheryl."

Monster?

"He's right," Jonathan says. "If we want to get help we have to go looking first."

"We'll go after school," I tell Jonathan.

"Wait then I'm coming too," Archie butts in. "Cheryl was a friend."

"I'll go too," Nancy adds. "The more people we have the easier it will be."

"Me too," Lara Jean says excitedly. "I can't let Nancy go alone."

"Then Peter and I will go too," Kavinsky shrugs getting a disappointed look from Peter. "We all witnessed this we might as well go."

"I guess that's it then," Archie says, looking around at all of us. "After school we're hunting this monster."

Four hours later I find myself in Jonathan's car on the way to the school parking lot to meet everyone else.

I can't help but thinking that this is all insane. Veronica is mental, she doesn't have any idea what she's talking about.

Jonathan explained to me what Veronica had said since I blacked out. Apparently she saw this tall monster with a venus fly trap for a head and a really thin, alien like body. There's no way that it's real, it's too crazy to be real.
