It was a warm day in London, and the Jellicle cats were all soaking in the sun in one place or another.

Some cats were sleeping, such as Plato and Etcetera; some were simply dozing, like Mistoffelees and Skimbleshanks; others were chatting to each other, like Bombalurina and Demeter.

Y/N was one of the few cats taking full advantage of the perfect weather, she was currently laying in the warm rays of the sun on the bonnet of a rusty car, moving only when she was left in shadows. Such beautiful cloudless days were rare treats in London, especially this part.

"Are you alive, Y/N?" A tom's voice asked from somewhere. Y/N opened her eyelids to reveal bright E/C eyes. Munkustrap loomed into view, a smile playing at his lips.

Y/N stretched her legs and yawned before speaking. "Just about." She said sleepily, sitting up slightly. Munkustrap chuckled and led down next to her.

She slowly led back down too, the warm sun on her face. She sighed contently before beginning to drift back off to sleep. Munkustrap watched her for a few moments.

The slow rising and falling of her chest; the small movements of her tail and ears; the way she scratched behind her ear every now and then... It was all quite entrancing.

He was beginning to fall asleep himself now. Just as Munkustraps' eyelids fluttered close, a loud bang awoke him. He sat bolt upright, eyes searching frantically for the source of the noise.

"MACAVITY!" One of the girls exclaimed, and there was a frantic frenzy of cats scampering away. Munkustrap jumped down off of the car into the retreating swarm of cats, searching for Macavity.

A shriek echoed around the junkyard, and Munkustrap sprinted towards it. There, claws and teeth bared, was Macavity. He caught sight of Munk and they stood for a few seconds just staring at each other, as if time had frozen.

Then Macavity let out a low growl, and Munkustrap showed his claws too. Macavity suddenly lashed at Munk, who dodged and tried too. Macavity was too fast, and jumped out of the way.

The two cats were walking in a circle, neither daring to take their eyes off each other. Munkustrap scratched at Macavitys' face again. This time he hit his target, but only left a shallow scratch along his nose.

"Leave." Munkustrap growled, aware that Y/N had not fled like the other cats, and was watching intently. He could see her out of the corner of his eye, her tail twitching angrily.

Macavity let out a low, short laugh. "When has that ever worked?" He said hoarsely, then reached out to scratch at Munkustraps' face unexpectedly again.

Munk didn't have any time to react, and Macavitys' cold claws drew through his fur like small knives. He retracted his claws from one paw and put it up to his face, his eyes still following Macavitys' movements.

When he removed his paw, there were spots of blood dotted over his sleek grey fur. Losing all patience, Munkustrap had another go at scratching Macavity. He missed again, which made a kind of fiery hatred start by bubbling in his stomach, and his breathing quickened.

Munkustrap ran forward, straight at Macavity, and managed to scratch his face. Macavity, not expecting this kind of fight, began to sink his claws into anywhere he could reach. Munkustrap did the same, ignoring the pain jolting through his body every time Macavitys' claws dug into his flesh.

Eventually, Munkustrap retreated, clutching his arm in agony. Macavity let out a roar of laughter, but stopped when another cat came to face him. Munkustrap was now on the floor and was attempting to shuffle over to the car bonnet Y/N  had been on a few seconds ago, when he realised she was no longer there.

"Go home." Macavity snarled at Y/N, who raised an eyebrow. "I am." She replied. The other cats were coming back now, and were slowly circling around him.

Y/N hissed as Macavity took a step forward, a sneer on his face. He took another step, and Y/N scratched his face. The other cats got the gist and began to claw at him too, eventually forcing Macavity to retreat.

And with a flash of blue light, he was gone. "Munkustrap!" Y/N gasped, running over to where he was watching the scene. "A-Are you ok?" She asked, trying to catch her breath.

"Yeah, I'm fine." He said, smiling. Y/N smiled back. "Hey great job our there. Couldn't have done it without you." Munkustrap said, making Y/N blush slightly. "Thank you." She said quietly.

"You did great too." She replied. "That's quite a cut." Y/N observed, placing a paw on Munkustraps' cheek. "I'll be ok." He said, putting his paw on top of hers.

"Your collar's got a bit of a scratch on too." Y/N said, looking down. "It's got many." Y/N took a deep breath and said something that she'd wanted to say for years.

"Look, um... Probably a weird time to say this, but... I just think that y-you're an amazing leader and it must take so much work to keep everyone under control and healthy on your own... So just... Thank you."

As soon as she said it, Y/N wished she hadn't. It was so not the time! She felt her cheeks warm up; she looked almost feverish. But Munkustrap carried on smiling. "I'm really not." He chuckled.

"Yes you are." Y/N blurted out before she could stop herself. From somewhere, god knows where, a lot of courage had just come her way. "You're right about one thing though..." Munk started, but then looked to the ground, as if it'd suddenly become more interesting than the conversation.

"It is hard to do it alone." He said. "So... I have been thinking-" "That's new." Y/N interrupted. "And..." He said something that was so quiet that it was incomprehensible. "Didn't quite catch that." Y/N said.

"D'you want to be my mate?" He asked. Y/N gasped and her eyes widened in shock. What just happened? "Um..." She mumbled in suprise. His smile faltered.

"It's ok... Stupid idea anyway. I'm so sorry. I'll just... Be over there-" He started, but was cut off once again, because suddenly Y/N kissed him.

It was short and sweet, but enough to make Munkustrap turn bright red, and a few chatting cats look their way. Neither of them said anything for a few moments, both in some kind of trance at what had just happened.

"So does this mean you do want to...
You know..." Y/N laughed and nodded. "Of course silly." She said, then wrapped her paws around him. He did the same, slightly suprised she actually said yes.

The moment was only ruined by a large amount of cheering coming from the other Jellicles, who'd been listening in to the conversation for the last 5 minutes.

That was fluffy at the end sorry 😂
