"cause i've had my heart
broken before
and i promised i would
never let me hurt anymore
but i tore down my walls
and opened my doors
and made room for one
so baby
i'm yours"
it was just supposed to be casual.
after all, lydia had just been through...

pedro
listen you know i'm shit at being serious
but i really think we need to talk
of course, is something wrong?
no?
at least i don't think so?
but possibly?
we've had a similar conversation before but i feel like things have changed and i need to know where we stand right now
well, i know where i stand
i think we're really good friends, just with an unconventional relationship
is that your way of trying to say friends with benefits more politely?
pretty much yeah
ok that's exactly what i wanted to hear because that's how i feel too
and you're totally cool with it? is that how you want to move forward with this?
100%
me too
except pedro wasn't 100% cool with that. maybe a 60%, or even a 65% if we're being generous. but most certainly not 100%.
pedro really liked lydia. a lot.
he was a fan before he met her and he had always thought she was beautiful, kind, funny, and talented. she was almost too good to be true. because of this idea he had of her in his head, he was admittedly terrified to meet her for the first time. what if she was actually really arrogant and rude, and her sweet persona was just an act? but from the first words they exchanged, he knew she was everything he imagined her to be. none of it was fake.
was lydia perfect? of course not. she couldn't bring herself to commit to anyone after her divorce with jake. she was scared to open herself up to anyone in fear of getting too attached to them. but pedro knew that from the start. he knew exactly what he was getting into but he did it anyways because she was worth it.
she was so, so worth it.
he wanted something more. their physical connection was undoubtedly amazing. but he wanted the emotional connection. the romantic connection. unfortunately for him, however, he knew this couldn't happen. at least not for a long time. so if friends with benefits was what she wanted, he'd accept it. he would rather have it be that way than to not have her at all.
after all, lydia herself once sang "i'd rather your body than half of your heart".
hiiii just a quick little note, i actually changed it so jake is lydia's ex husband instead of ex boyfriend. it'll be more important later. also, i changed his faceclaim from barns to johnny stevens, and instead of being a solo artists, he's in a band called low point based off of highly suspect. i would recommend going back to the cast chapter and seeing the changes i made to him. you may also notice that added another character...
