I am woken up by the sound of boots hitting metal and screams. Not the battle cry kind of scream, but the one where the person knows that there is no escape; that they have no chance of living through what was happening.
I bolt out of my living quarters, going to investigate the cause of the screams. The temple was on fire. All of it, my fellow peers were running for their lives. The debris from the temple was coming down too fast for them to move it with the force. It was horrific.
I started to sprint around trying to find who had done this to our temple, our home! That's when I saw him. Ben. He was standing over the bodies of our fellow peers.
"Ben!"
He turned his head toward me. Tears were streaming down his rosy cheeks. His lightsaber retracted into its hilt. He looked so broken inside; like he was battling with himself. I put my hand on the hilt of my lightsaber, I knew Ben but this wasn't him.
"Meetra..."
His voice was so weak like he had been screaming for hours on end. I couldn't resist. I was the kind of person that wanted to help no matter what. You could say it was my biggest flaw but Ben was my best friend. I removed my hand from my hilt and started to walk to Ben.
I got cautiously close to him but I knew he wouldn't do anything. I could feel a disturbance in the force; it was coming from Ben. I knew I had to do something.
His head was tilted down, looking at the ground in shame. I placed my hand on his chin and raised his head so his gaze was focused on me. Tears were still forming in his eyes and streaming down his cheeks.
"Hey, it's okay. What happened?"
Once the sentence left my mouth, I regretted it. Ben's whole body started to shake uncontrollably. I removed my hand from his chin and wrapped him into a hug. He was hesitant at first, but he wrapped his muscular arms around my upper back.
"I fucked up, Meetra. I... I... I didn't kill them... I swear.. There was this... this bolt of lightning... It came out of nowhere!" Ben started to sob into my shoulder clutching onto me like I was the only thing left. But I was. There was no one else. All of them were gone. I heard no more screams, no more feet hitting the ground, running.
I stared off into space, I didn't know how to react to this. Ben and I were the only ones alive. I could sense it with the Force.
Master Luke. Torra. Xander. Gina. All of them. I held Ben as tightly as I could, I knew he needed it but I couldn't be strong for him right now.
The tears started to flow, I began to cry along with him. I didn't know what else to do. We both collapsed onto the ground holding each other, mourning the loss of our entire academy.
After what felt like hours, Ben lifted his head and let go of me. He stood up and held out his hand.
"We have to go. Snoke wants to meet you." He patiently waited for a response for me.
I don't know what to do. Who is that Snoke?! How does Ben know of him? I don't know if I trust this Snoke person but where else am I supposed to go?
I looked up at Ben and took his hand.
"Let's go," I said as I stood up and kept ahold of Ben's hand.
Hi! Long time no see my readers. It is I, Karlena, coming back from the dead. But no seriously, it's great to be back. I missed writing and with the resurface of my love of Star Wars, I decided I'd write a fan fiction once more.
Please enjoy it and I hope to have a new chapter up by next week.
