Chapter 17

After a week, (Y/N) was finally on her way back to Alastor. Her train had reached the station much earlier than expected, so she decided not to tell Alastor and instead, go surprise him. Besides, (Y/N) hadn't seen Alastor in days since after a point they hadn't been able to video call because she was busy with her family, resulting in them only texting.
(Y/N) reached Alastor's house and noticed that the door was unlocked. She pushes it open gently and steps inside to see a lot of broken furniture spread across the house. "Alastor?! Are you alright? " Called out (Y/N) as she quickly ran into the house and began searching for him frantically, in fear that there had been a home invasion and Alastor might have been hurt.
"(Y/N)? You're back early. I wasn't going to start cleaning up the place until an hour before you arrived. Did you have a nice trip back? " Asked Alastor as he walked out of the basement and stood in front of (Y/N).
(Y/N) held back a muffled sob. "Alastor. What happened to you? " She barely managed to croak out as she took in Alastor's current state. He had cuts and bruises all over his body. Some were bandaged up and others weren't. His bottom lip was cut up and he had prominent dark circles under his eyes. She almost began crying as Alastor gently pulled her into a hug.
"I'm alright darling. Don't worry. I just missed you. A lot. I've just been really frustrated with work and you haven't been here and I just lost control. I may or may not have broken a few things along with voluntarily hurting myself. But it's all good now. You're here and you're not going to leave me again" Said Alastor as he gently ran his fingers through (Y/N)'s hair.
"We need to get you patched up. " Said (Y/N) as she pulled away from Alastor and held his hand as she guided him over to the living room and sat him down on the couch. "Stay still alright" Said (Y/N) as she began cleaning up Alastor's wounds before proceeding to bandage him up.
Alastor simply watched her, grumbling a little to himself as he believed that (Y/N) was now, afraid of him or worse, she hated him.
"(Y/N)?  You didn't answer my previous question. How was your trip back? " Asked Alastor gently as he looked up at (Y/N) who was putting a band-aid over the cut on his forehead.
"It was alright. I was really excited to see you after so long. Is that pesky reporter still bugging you at work? What was her name? Emma Sparks? " Asked (Y/N) curiously as she put the first aid kit away and sat down next to Alastor.
"Yeah. She's a real pain in the ass. She keeps trying to get close to me and it's awfully annoying. I think she's trying to tank the whole departments reputation by making me like her and then turn it into some sort of scandal. I hope she burns. She's the reason I haven't gone to work for the past few weeks. We haven't really had a lot of cases so we make it a point to go to the station as little as possible so that we can avoid being anywhere near that devilish woman. " Said Alastor as he cringed at the thought of her.
"She sounds awful. Anyway I was meaning to ask you-" Began (Y/N) before she was cut off by the sound of the doorbell.
"Now who the fuck is that" Growled Alastor as he marched towards the door angrily.
He opened it and was practically pushed backwards by a blonde, green eyed woman entering the door, followed by two men with cameras.
"Oh Alastor dear. What happened to you sweetie poo? You look absolutely terrible. Who did this? " Said Emma as she flayed her arms around and huffed before she tried to kiss his cheek, before being pushed backwards by Alastor as he cringed and made a disgusted face. Emma pouts before noticing (Y/N) standing in the corner. "Is she the one who did this? Wait a second. Isn't this the new girl at the station? Oh she's in your house. Relationships between co-workers are so unprofessional. The people are going to go mad at this scoop. To top it all up she hurt you and that means she'll have to get fired! When she moves away we can finally be together. Yay" Giggles Emma and wraps her arms around Alastor before he shoves her away again.
"She didn't do it. She's just helping me. I swear if you make this some twisted news story I will end you Emma. Now get out of my house. " Growled Alastor as he walked towards the camera men to take the tapes away, but before he could get them, they left.
"We came to get footage of our town hero at home but we got something way better. The town's going to go wild. The story of an abusive relationship between the new cop in town and our very own town hero. " Squealed Emma as she ran outside and got into the van and drove off.
Alastor grumbled and facepalmed himself. "What if she releases the footage? I'd loose my job. This is terrible. I should've just stayed home" Sighed (Y/N) as she sat down, massaging her temples.
"They're not gonna take you away from me. Not again. I have an idea" Said Alastor with a sinister expression on his face. (Y/N) looked over at him and was immediately filled with terror. "Alastor? Are you sure you're alright? " Muttered (Y/N) softly as she kept her eyes on Alastor and slowly began backing up towards the room.
"Where do you think you're going gorgeous? We're going to safeguard our careers. Come over here darling. You know you want to" Grinned Alastor as he began walking towards (Y/N), with a sick and twisted expression plastered onto his face and his eyes shone with a look of pure insanity.
