~~~(Jungle Daze by J Motor)~~~
Brooklyn pumps her arms with wide, even motions as her two working legs carry her down the sidewalk around her neighborhood. Her brown hair is pulled into a ponytail and her forehead bangs move back and forth as she runs with a smile on her face. She glances down at both of her legs, once again thankful that neither of them are giving out. Five years ago, she was involved in a drastic water sport accident that landed her in the hospital when she lost the ability to walk right. Instead, she spent four years walking with the assistance of a cane. The cane became part of her life. That's why after her kidney surgery, she was more than shocked to see both legs are working just fine. The doctors tell her they're not sure if this is permanent but it's sure as hell a medical miracle.
Brooklyn reaches the front door of her house, getting a reflection in the clear door before the main one. She's skinnier than she used to be. Her hips aren't as curvy as they once were and her boobs look smaller too. Now that she has two active legs, she has been running more than she ever has in her entire life. She doesn't just want to sit around doing nothing. If she has legs, she's going to use them.
"It's about time." Braxton, Brooklyn's fourteen year old brother sits on the stairs directly across from the front door. His backpack is on his back and he's resting his head on the wall, their sister Kira next to him. "Did you forget that we have school today?"
Brooklyn pants for breath, finding a laundry basket in the den and pulling a hoodie over her head, keeping on her leggings. Braxton is now in high school with Brooklyn while Kira just started sixth grade. "You don't care about making it there on time. You just want to see Harrow Evans."
"Duh." Braxton says as if he doesn't see the problem. "She's hot."
"Let's go." Brooklyn leads her siblings out the door, taking her hair out of the ponytail as she goes and whipping it around to make it loose.
"Always gotta be late." Kira mumbles before they pile into Brooklyn's Jeep.
Brooklyn doesn't even try arguing with them. She's too happy of a person to pick a fight.'Harrow sits at the round table in the courtyard of Seaview High, her lap top open in front of her. Her brown hair is in a bun and she's scrolling through websites about pregnancy, her stomach fluttering with just about every word she reads. She swallows, looking down at her own stomach and wondering how big it's going to get. It's gonna stick out like, a whole foot in front of her. People are going to start thinking of her as the school slut now. She can't be the school slut. She's Harrow Evans- Socialite Party Girl With A Bitchy Side.
"What are you looking at?" Tabby sits down across from her at the table with a breakfast bar in her hand.
"Nothing." Harrow quickly slams her lap top closed. She notices Emerson crossing through the courtyard and she keeps her head low. There's no way she's going to tell him, especially since she doesn't even know what she's going to do about the baby. She has options, options that are almost too late to go through with. Three months along is pretty far and soon, she'll be showing.Case sits in his wheelchair, his arms folded across his chest as he stares at the parallel bars in front of him. There's a blue mat that is laid down and the metal rails glimmer in the light above on the tiled ceiling. Case stares at the bars with no hurry to try to hold on to them to get himself to stand. Logan says that he should try but Case is so over trying. He went for a checkup and his doctor once again said that physical therapy isn't helping but that doesn't mean he should stop.
"I'm not doing it." Case tells Logan stubbornly.
"Come on, it's worth a try." Logan pushes.
Case shakes his head. "The doctor told me that it's very unlikely I'll be able to walk again. Why waste my energy trying to walk through parallel bars?"
"Come on." Logan encourages, his muscles showing in his black tank top. Case looks away, knowing he might fall under his charm or something. "Do it for me?"
Case debates on walking across but then thinks about how embarrassing it's going to be when he tumbles to the floor. His legs don't work. How can they keep him stable? Case looks at Logan and then at the clock above the door. "My session is over."
