~~~(Deeper by Ella Eyre)~~~
Case opens the door into his parents' bedroom with Skylar by his side. The brothers rush inside to snoop, both eager to find something that has to do with all the money Case found in his dad's jacket a few days ago. Case filled his brother in on how shady his parents got when he questioned them on the money and they're both determined to find out what the truth actually is.
"Are you sure there were HUNDREDS of dollars in the pocket?" Skylar roots through the dresser drawers. "I mean, if it was a smaller amount, then we don't need to be snooping."
"Sky, we've been through this." Case opens the walk in closet and strolls inside. "They're hiding something and it's obviously not too good."
"What if it's for a gift or something?" Skylar suggests, shutting the top drawer of the dresser and moving to the next one. "I mean, they could be planning to buy one of us something."
Case shakes his head in annoyance. He knows that Skylar tries seeing their parents as changed people but sneaking around with this much money isn't a good look for them. Case wishes that he could trust Sean and Becky but things are starting to go south now. "They should know by now that the only thing I want is this stem cell surgery."
"I'm not finding anything." Skylar calls out into the main part of the bedroom.
Case sits in his chair, looking around the closet. If he were hiding hundreds of dollars, where would he hide it? Case looks up to the top shelf of one of the sections where his mom's shawls hang. "Skylar, come here."
Skylar hurries into the closet. He's obviously never went through someone's things before, especially their parents'. "What?"
"Look." Case points to the box on the top shelf. "Something could be in there."
Skylar stands on his tip toes, bringing the box down to where Case and him can both see the contents inside. Case's heart beats with anticipation as he watches his brother open the box. He holds his breath, hoping for something good but it's completely empty.At school, Kai walks through the main doors, wondering where Harrow is. She had gotten to school early for some unknown reason. It probably has something to do with the dance team. Kai is officially back from New York and of course, the people are talking. He doesn't mind though. He came to school today expecting the stares to be vicious and the whispers to be loud. He left Aaron in New York and the two of them have been Skyping every night as long as possible but Kai is trying to get caught back up in all his classes. He's trying his best but doesn't need any more distractions. At least he doesn't have to worry about his boyfriend being in the same state and keeping him off task.
"Welcome back." Rhyannon and Cambridge are waiting for Kai at his familiar locker. "We missed you, kind of."
"Well it's good to be back." Kai laughs, spinning the combination to his locker.
"I told Rhy that we should've brought streamers or something but he turned me down." Cambridge pipes.
"Oh, here comes Harrow." Rhyannon rolls his eyes as he stares down the hallway.
Kai follows his gaze, noticing his twin sister strutting down the hallway with Chloe Morgez by her side. The two of them purse their lips, their super short skirts moving with their perfectly shaped hips. Harrow's heels clack against the floor while Chloe looks Tatiana Kapur up and down in disgust as she passes. Harrow and her both roll their eyes as they get closer and closer to Kai and his friends. Since when is she one of THOSE girls? Kai knows that Harrow was bound to become Queen B at some point but it happened so quick. "Hey, Harrow."
Harrow glances at her brother but doesn't say anything, continuing her way down the hall with Chloe.
"You're feeling her wrath too, it looks like." Rhyannon says to Kai as he watches Harrow.
Cambridge clasps a hand on Kai's shoulder. "Your sister is a bitch my friend, and not in the good way."
~~~(END SONG)~~~Anna pulls her car into the driveway of Ariel's Beverly Hills home that same day after school. Instead of having Ariel drive all the way to her house, Anna suggested she pick her up, since they are an official couple. She looks up at the yellow house and the white shutters. Palm trees stretch high over the house from the backyard and the flowers lined up under the windows are blooming in the afternoon sun. Anna would have never pictured Ariel's house to be like this one. She seems a way too edgy to be living in one of these glass Beverly Hills houses but then again, who knows how much her family has? Anna gets out of her Volvo and shuts the door behind her as she makes her way up the stone path to the front door. Before she rings the bell, she hears a car door slam behind her. Anna turns around, her red hair flinging over her shoulder. A Porsche is now parked behind her car and a man and a woman get out. They must be Ariel's parents- whom she's never met before.
"Can I help you?" The woman asks. Her hair is just as dark and curly as Ariel's, a few wrinkles around her mouth and red polished nails. She's wearing an off the shoulder top with jeans, wearing a bright smile as she approaches Anna.
"Uh, hi." Anna steps off the low porch. "I'm Anna, Ariel's friend."
"No you're not." The man stares at her. He has short brown hair and a beer belly that sticks out a few inches. He's wearing his own pair of jeans and a polo shirt, the only resemblance between him and Ariel are his eyes. "You're Ariel's girlfriend."
"I didn't know if she told you." Anna stifles a nervous laugh as she puts her hands behind her back. "I'm guessing you two are her parents?"
"I'm Drita and this is my husband Paul." The woman introduces them.
"It's nice to meet you both." Anna nods just as Ariel comes out onto the porch from the front door. All eyes turn to look at her.
"Ugh, you met them without me?" Ariel stomps down the few stairs and joins the huddle. "I could've given you a few warnings before meeting them."
"They seem nice." Anna says back as if the parents aren't even here anymore.
"Anna, we'd love to have you over for dinner some time." Paul volunteers. "Ariel sure does talk a lot about you."
"No I don't." Ariel shoots her dad an annoyed look.
"No need to be embarrassed, Ariel." Drita sneaks a smile at Anna. "Anna seems like a lovely girl."
"Thank you." Anna forces another laugh. She usually just fake laughs until she makes something out of it. She seems a lot nicer that way.
"We should get going." Ariel tries moving around her parents. "We don't want Tabby to be waiting."
"Really, come over for dinner." Paul calls after Anna as she gets dragged away by Ariel. They seem like nice people for the most part and Anna looks forward to getting to know them.
