Tabby quickly walks down the hallway at Seaview High School on Wednesday afternoon with her eyes big and wide. Her hair is in a sloppy ponytail and she's wearing sweatpants and a tank top that she'll probably get in trouble with for showing off her shoulders. The school day is finally over and Tabby has been alert all day, participating in all her classes, acing her government exam, checked in with Dalton and Pops before lunch, and even managed to write a new song. Ariel has been giving her these Hum Energy pills that work wonders. She has seen characters on TV before get addicted to this type of stuff but Tabby isn't one of those people. She's just taking the little blue magic so that she can stay on top of her schoolwork.
"I need more pills." Tabby climbs into the passenger seat of Ariel's jeep. It's parked on the curb in front of the school, waiting for Tabby and Anna to get inside so they can go straight to rehearsal.
"Whoa there, addict." Ariel jokes as Anna crawls into the back. "I gave you five like three days ago. They were supposed to last you a few weeks."
"Tabby, maybe you should slow down on those things." Anna advises from the back. "It's easy to get addicted to energy pills."
"You guys, I'm not addicted." Tabby looks at both of them in annoyance. Just because she wants a few extra pills doesn't make her addicted in any sort of way. These things are great for her. They keep her awake and active. It's better than getting distracted and falling behind. "Being a single mom is a lot of work, especially when I have a band AND I'm in school."
"You're kind of not a single mom though." Ariel starts the car. "You have your grandparents helping out."
"You guys don't have the right to judge me." Tabby digs through her bag for her song book. "Which reminds me, I wrote a new song."
"When did this get done?" Anna takes the book from Tabby.
"Today." Tabby answers, quite proud of it. It's a little off their tune but they can totally work with it.
"Wow, this is really good." Anna flips through the pages of the new song.
"See?" Tabby smirks, looking out the passenger seat window. "These pills aren't so bad."Israel's fingers are entwined with Tatiana's as the two of them make their way down the beach together after school that same day. Israel is glad to know that the whole fight between them about Harrow is over with and that now he can focus on moving things forward with her. Every feeling he had for Harrow isn't out the door, even though he wishes he didn't feel anything for her. But something about their relationship makes him feel that their story together is incomplete. Israel shakes his head away from his thoughts and then looks over at Tatiana's smiling face.
"You look happy." Israel observes.
"I am." Tatiana moves a piece of brown hair away from her face. "I didn't think it was in my cards to be walking on the beach with Israel Sepulveda."
"You make me sound like I'm a celebrity." Israel grins. Tatiana has made him feel almost famous. Everything she says it's like she's in the presence of a world leader or something. It's different, but flattering.
"You kind of are to me." Tatiana admits and then hits her forehead with her palm. "Damn it. Padma told me that I shouldn't be treating you like royalty."
Israel playfully kicks the salt water up at Tatiana with a grin on his face. "But I am royalty."
"Shut up." Tatiana laughs, kicking water back. "That's for standing me up."
"That's for pretending to be my ex." Israel splashes her again, both of them trudging around in the water, laughing.
"This is for being with Harrow that night instead of me!" Tatiana picks up a ball of sand and throws it at Israel's chest.
"This is for not returning my calls!" Israel gathers the white sand into his palm before throwing it at her legs.
"Why would you do that?" Tatiana suddenly looks annoyed and her eyebrows are in a V shape.
Israel's smile fades away when he realizes just how mad she actually is. Did he say something wrong? He thought that they were only joking. It's not like they were taking each other seriously, right? "I thought we were joking around."
"I'm wearing clothes." Tatiana gestures to her maroon sweater and jeans. "Now I'm wet and sandy."
"I'm sorry, you were fine with it before." Israel blinks. Is this a girl thing? She has to be having those weird mood swings that they always get because this is coming out of nowhere. This isn't the first time Israel has noticed her flip flopping attitudes but then again, she's a chick. Don't they get like this every once and a while?
"Well I'm not fine with it." Tatiana starts up the beach without waiting for Israel.
"Tatiana." Israel calls after her, still confused. Tatiana doesn't stop though, she continues walking without looking back at him.
