A/N: I wrote this a year (?) ago in an attempt to inspire myself to write A Silent Cry, but we all know how that turned out so I'm giving it to you anyway
~~This takes place within the Septic-Eyed universe~~
It started off as a little thing, really.
Little fights every once in a while over something so small. They were never a big deal. There would be an argument, the couple would sort it out, and then it was over. They never lasted very long. After years of being together, Felix and Cry knew how to handle disagreements with each other. Until one day it grew out of their control.
Cry huffed in annoyance. Felix forgot to take out the trash. Again. He always forgot to do his chores before he left the house.
He had been leaving the house a lot. The first few times Cry was fine with it. Felix had other friends outside of him, Mark, and Sean -- he knew this. But when it started to become more frequent is when Cry found himself getting a little ticked off. He didn't press it because he didn't want Felix to feel as if he was being suffocated in their relationship. Time apart was good for couples, wasn't it? Though Cry couldn't help but feel a little abandoned sometimes.
And eventually, a little jealous.
It was an accident, but Cry saw a message on Felix's phone from a girl he didn't recognize. The one thing he remembered about it was the multiple heart emojis. He didn't respond. He didn't even tell Felix that he saw. He kept it to himself and pushed away any doubts that he had. Felix wasn't like that. It was all a misunderstanding.
Cry plopped down on the couch after dealing with the trash issue. He frowned when he saw the time; it was almost ten o'clock. Felix tended to be back before this time -- he knew how Cry felt about either of them staying out late.
"It's probably fine," Cry thought to himself. "He'll be back soon."
With that reasoning, Cry decided to wait in the living room until Felix got home. He turned on the TV to try to calm his nerves. It was a little silly, but the dark still scared him. He still associated it with the taste of blood and screams of his younger years so it was no wonder why he didn't want Felix out so late. Bad things happened at night.
Cry stayed on that couch for hours. The TV channel started playing re-runs of old shows, and not even the good episodes. He sat there bundled up in a blanket passed midnight trying not to worry. The blanket made him feel a little safer, at least.
It wasn't until the second episode of Home Improvement that there was any sign of Felix coming home, which was the door handle. Cry perked up at the sound, all tiredness leaving him, so he could see his wonderful boyfriend a-hundred-percent unharmed. He was a little confused at how long it took, though. The handle (and what sounded like keys) jiggled a few more times than necessary before it opened.
Then in stumbled Felix. Quite literally; he almost tripped on the doorway.
Cry frowned at the actions. That wasn't typical Felix clumsiness. He got up as Felix struggled with the door again. His brows furrowed. It was a rather simple lock... He let go of his blanket and went to Felix's aid, effectively closing the door and locking it for him.
Felix grinned. "Oh, thanks, babe." He tossed his keys into the bowl they usually go into and missed. He seemed unphased that they barely even made it onto the tabletop at all.
"Are you drunk?" Is what Cry wanted to ask, but no sooner did his hand form the word "you" was Felix already walking away from him. It was as if he wasn't paying attention in the first place.
Cry frowned again. That was essentially the equivalent of putting headphones on to stop hearing a person speaking. It was more than a little rude. He let his hand fall to his side and trailed after Felix.
