I squeezed a lemon into a glass of water and handed it to Michelle who had a case of painful hangover. I then took my bowl and started eating my breakfast which was just fruit loops with milk and freshly squeezed orange juice.
“I’m sorry” Michelle apologized.
“You don’t have to be sorry about anything” I said.
“I made you dress up and come to the club to only bore you with my rants and whining” She drank the lemon juice. Michelle had spent the night in my place, we talked for a while until she passed out and I fell asleep as I was going through the applicants for the firm.
“No. I don’t like dancing or drinking anyway so it’s all good” I said. I was starting to feel better and more like the old me after having interactions with my estranged family and friends.
“It’s not just that, you went through years of torture and hell and I could not even be there for you” She looked at me right in my eyes; hers filled with sadness and guilt. She meant it.
“You were not obligated to” I said as I stood up and headed to the kitchen to wash my bowl. She followed me.
“Also thanks for giving me a job and a place to live, it was getting hard to face the nosy neighbours and listen to their remarks” She smiled.
“Hey! What are friends for?” Not only did I give her a job but I also asked her to move in with me since I had a spacious room downstairs that I did not use. Little did she know that I needed her more than she needed me. I acted like it was fine but deep down I was still traumatized. I didn’t want to be alone. I feared that Bryant would find out my new place and would enter my life again and I? I wouldn’t be able to stop him. I did not want to admit but he had made a little paranoid and it wasn’t fun.
“I’ll go get my things from my parents house and then I’ll help you unpack the rest of your things” She said looking at the boxes stacked on top of each other in the living room.
Later that afternoon I dressed up and headed to my new office which was just nearby my new house, It was just a five minute walk from my home.
The elevator opened and I was surprised to see the good work that Veronica had done. I should be happy that she did not butcher up the place but I wasn’t. I did not like her and her proving me wrong drove me nuts. Veronica stood there directing the electrician to install some fancy looking bulbs.
“Do you like it?” A voice whispered in my ear making me jump in surprise.
“What the..” I swore in anger.  I looked around to see Aiden who enjoyed seeing me startled.
“Grow up Aiden” I grumbled.
Veronica approached us and smiled,
“Do you like the place?” She asked, she knew I liked it.
“Yeah, it’s fine” was my reply. To escape her I walked straight to my office expecting it to be well furnished and decorated like the rest of the place was, I shouldn’t have.
The colour theme of the rest of the office was monochrome but my office was a burst of colours, bright colours.
“This room is like you, vibrant” Aiden who had followed me in, said. I made a face at that. I don’t think I had a vibrant personality whatsoever and why did he even talk like he knew me when we just met and hardly talk to each other.
Aiden’s phone rang and he left my cabin. His girlfriend walked in and said,
“Yup the room is like you, you’re a vibrant clown who doesn’t belong here”. She had eavesdropped and she certainly seemed to be bitter about me being there. She deliberately made my office look like it was a mini circus on its own. I did not care about the fact that she was a two faced person, nothing really surprises me anymore. Maybe she should break up with Aiden and start dating Bryant since they both like to pretend that they’re sweethearts to the mass and show their ugly selves to me.
