I was working in my office, going through some paper works when Aiden knocked on the door.
“Ma’am, Sir Aiden is here” Stella said whose table was in the same room as mine and she considered it her duty to announce the entrance of anyone who entered my cabin because I was always wholly invested in my work.
“I am busy.” I said without even looking at him.
“I see, but can I have a minute of your time?” He asked. I couldn’t stand how polite he always was because that made me guiltier for always being so rude to him.
“We are going to have our baby shower and gender-reveal party tomorrow and we would like it if you come to the party.” He said as he handed me a cute card.
“I don’t know if I have time. My schedule is packed with meetings.” I lied.
“oh...” He replied with disappointment.
“Actually Ma’am, there is nothing important scheduled tomorrow you can attend the party if you wish to” Stella intervened. I stared daggers at her, this girl sometimes took her work too seriously and that bothered me because I couldn’t use work as an excuse in situations like this.
“So it’s settled then” Aiden smiled.
“I guess” I replied
“Wear something white” He said and exited.
“Stella” I groaned.
She looked at me with the same look she gave me whenever she knew that she did something wrong but she didn’t know exactly what she did wrong.
“S-sorry?” She uttered.
“Just because I don’t have any appointments listed in your computer does not mean that I have nothing to do!” I snapped at her.
“I see. I’ll go tell Sir Aiden that..” I cut her off.
“Leave it” I sighed.
I ‘m just so sick of having to deal with people on a daily basis. Can it be Christmas already?

As I was walking home I noticed that there was a new store just near my apartment building. There used to be a pizzeria before the new store, I guess it went bankrupt just like the rest of the other stores next to it. My eyes were focused on the workers who were renovating the place. I didn’t care much about the old pizzeria, I once went there with Michelle after she kept on insisting that we eat pizza for dinner. All I have to say about the pizzeria is that the wallpapers were very old; one of the lights kept flickering, the chairs were all worn out, the table cloths were very old fashioned and it seemed like the owners had a hard time attracting customers because we were literally the only customers in the pizzeria. The food was actually average maybe even better than the food we get in big fast food chains, but the world is superficial we no longer care much about how good the food tastes but we rather care more about how aesthetic the place will look in our social media feeds. Maybe that’s the main reason why they could not attract the “vsco girls” in the city hence went bankrupt. Because of my long chain of thoughts I crashed into a person, I was startled. I looked at the person and you can say that I was lost in his ocean blue eyes.
“Sorry Madam” He apologized.
“Are you hurt?” He added. I saw him directing the workers earlier from behind; I didn’t think that he would be this cute.
“Oh no, I am fine” I said but I knew I wasn’t really fine. I immediately realized that I had developed a crush on this stranger who had ocean blue eyes and messy brown hair. I thought I had forgotten what it felt like to have butterflies raging in my stomach.
“The last time I had felt this way was when I first met Bryant.” I told myself after reaching my apartment still flustered. I must have looked like an idiot when I stared at him for 30 seconds too long until I ran back home. I really did behave like a high school kid and it wasn’t even cute. But for some reason I didn’t know I smiled at the thought of having a new crush who gave me temporary happiness.
