Chapter 6
Lana:
Channing was lightly snoring next to me. It's been almost 6 hours since he fell asleep, leaving me with my thoughts and insomnia. Today was the big Lacrosse homecoming game. Even though I haven't had more then 2 hours of sleep, I was still going to go for Channing, Peyton and Noah.
"How long have you been awake?" Channing asked, sleepily.
"Since about 12..."
He checked the alarm clock next to my bed. It read 6 am.
"Lana are you serious? You didn't sleep at all?" Channing propped himself up on his elbows and gave me a worried look. I just smiled and got up to get ready for school, throwing him his extra toothbrush he leaves here.
"It's game day O'Brien. Better get ready."
"This doesn't change the fact that I'm dead worried about you." He said sternly.
"I'll be fine. Just get ready." I left the room with him still sitting on my bed.
Why did he care so much anyways? We had a "thing" once upon a time but he made it pretty clear that he couldn't go on with it for whatever reasons he had. I never actually really talked to him about that whole thing.
I put the final touches on my makeup and made my way back into my room to grab my hoodie. Channing was freshly out of the shower, checking his phone on my bed.
"Whatchya doing?" I asked him, sitting next to him. He locked his phone and flashed me a quick smile.
"I'm ready to kick some ass today."
Channing grabbed his backpack and signaled for me to follow him. I slid on my new boots and was out the door and into his car. The ride to school was quiet, but not the awkward quiet.
I looked over at him and raised my eyebrow.
"Are you okay?" I blurted.
He laughed and shook his head. "Lana, You're the one not sleeping at night and you're asking if I'm okay?"
Well if you put it that way...
"I don't know, you just seem.... Off."
"I just have a lot on my mind. And the big game is tonight. I'll be fine."
"Is there anything I can do to keep your mind at ease?" I asked. Which I don't even know why I did. 24 hours ago I hated his guts still.
"Honestly Lana I'm okay."
I just left it at that. There was something up with him but he just wouldn't budge and tell me. We turned into the school parking lot and he parked in his usual spot by the office. Silently, I got out of the car and smiled as I saw Peyton walking towards me.
"O'Brien huh?" He asked, scratching the back of his head. I looked back at Channing who was now out of his car and staring straight at me with daggers.
"Ya... Why do you say that?"
Peyton cleared his throat and shook his head.
"No reason. Uh, are you going to the game tonight?"
"Wouldn't miss it."
We started to make our way to Creative Writing when Kate caught up with us.
"Hey Lana, Peyton."
"Sup Kate?" I asked, looking at her confused as she fiddled with her thumbs.
"Uh- Nothing. Look, I gotta go. See you later?"
