Luck seemed to be on Lyra and Sirius' side that day because Professor Slughorn made the class choose whatever potion they wanted to make (strictly prohibiting Amortentia and or any deadly potion) and in return, awarding a small vial of Felix Felicis or 'Liquid Luck' to whoever did the best.

Lyra bit her bottom lip as she flipped through her potions book. She didn't really care what to make, she just needed to get to the cupboard with various pre-made potions and steal the Veritaserum "We need to distract Slughorn so I can get to the cupboard without being seen." She whispered to Sirius, who was starting to brew his Hiccoughing Solution.

Sirius nodded with a smirk. "Leave it to me."

With that, Sirius grabbed everything in his reach and began pouring them in the cauldron. It did not take long for the contents to start bubbling and turn into a dark green colour. Sirius grimaced, leaning closer into the potion and taking a quick sniff. "AH!" He gagged, bringing his hand up to his nose. "Professor!" He yelled. "Something's wrong with my-" but before he could finish his sentence, the potion blew up, luckily missing Sirius' face and hitting the wall behind him.

Professor Slughorn, who had been admiring Lily's work, came rushing over with a worried expression. "Are you alright, boy?" He panicked, inspecting Sirius' face.

Lyra took this opportunity to rush over to the cupboard behind Slughorn's desk. Making sure that everyone's' attention was on Sirius (Which they were given the fact that Sirius was now pretending to faint) she quickly rummaged through the vials. "Bingo." She whispered, smirking to herself as she grabbed the Veritaserum and went back over to the teens circling Sirius.

"Mate, it didn't even hit you." James rolled his eyes, an amused expression on his face.

"I...I think I..." Sirius began to lean against the table, panting. He then caught sight of Lyra, who sent him a thumbs up. Suddenly perking up Sirius smiled brightly at Slughorn. "Oh! Look at that - I'm feeling much better, Professor!"

Slughorn gave him a strange look but nodded. "Okay, still, you better head over to the Pomfrey, just in case." He patted the boy's shoulder and then stared at James. "Mr. Potter, would you kindly accompany Mr. Black-"

"Gladly!" James spoke a little too enthusiastically, happy to get out of class. Lyra chuckled and went back to work.

After a successful class of brewing a perfect Aging Potion and stealing Veritaserum, Lyra was ready to search for Sirius and James, when she was stopped by Slughorn.

"Miss Edevane, may I speak to you?"

Lyra felt her breath hitch at the back of her throat. Shit, I've been caught. She thought. Turning to look at Marlene and Lily, who had not stopped admiring the vial of Liquid Luck she had won as they waited by the door, she ushered them to leave without her and walked up to Slughorn.

"Yes, Professor?"

Slughorn sat behind his desk, his big belly slightly hitting it. "Well, I first want to congratulate you on being the second-best in class today." He smiled brightly.

Lyra returned it with a strained smile. She never minded being second to best, all she cared about in that moment was to leave and not get caught. "I- well - thank you." She stammered. "Professor." She quickly added.

"I also wanted to talk to you about - well I don't know if you have heard of the 'slug club'." Lyra felt the noose in her stomach loosen, glad to know it had nothing to do with the stolen potion.

She nodded. Of course, she knew what it was. Malfoy had been invited countless times to Slughorn's dinners, and so was Lily, who was very happy to be aport of it. Though if Lyra was being honest, she never really cared for it. "Yes, Professor."

"Well, I'd like you to join us next Friday. You don't have to dress too fancy, though please do wear something nice."

Lyra nodded. "Thank you, Professor."

"You are very welcome!" He exclaimed as if being part of the Slug Club was an honourable thing. "You may leave now, Miss Edevane." He motioned to the door, and Lyra did not have to be told twice to rush out of the class.

"Oh my God!" Lily shrieked. "You're part of the Slug Club! I can't believe someone I actually like will be there!"

Lyra had told the girls (who had been waiting for her outside) about her invitation to dinner, and Lily was clearly very happy about it.

"I still don't get why he never invited you earlier," Marlene spoke as they walked through the hallways. "I mean, you're pureblood. An Edevane. Shouldn't that mean Slughorn should be up your arse or something?"

"Who's up who's arse?"

The three girls turned around to find the four boys. Lily rolled her eyes at them, while Lyra's heart skipped a beat as she saw James. She couldn't help but curse at herself.

"Lyra over here has been invited to the 'Slug Club'" Marlene mocked, pocking Lyra's arm. Lyra just rolled her eyes with a smile.

" It's not a big deal," Lyra muttered, slightly embarrassed.

"Not a big deal?!" Lily gasped. "Of course it is! A Professor wants you to have dinner with him!"

James snorted. "Yeah, that's not creepy at all."

Lily swatted his arm. "Shut it, Potter. You're just jealous you are not liked by Slughorn like me and Lyra." She taunted, pulling Lyra by the arm closer to her.

"I mean, I have never been invited until now, but I really didn't care if I was or wasn't." Lyra shrugged, making Lily push her away.

"You disappoint me Edevane." Lily shook her head disaprovingly, making Lyra chuckle.
