Captive

"That's him," The Mistress hissed in my head. "The murderer future-Alpha himself."

The Alpha-to-be walked towards his Beta, his glare never wavering. I felt something warm build in my stomach, and my heart boiled over with red-hot hate.

"Finally, we catch the elusive she-wolf who is a constant thief." Alpha Kaden said, murmuring to himself.

He stood next to Clark, and stooped low to peer at my face. His green eyes glimmered with faint fascination, and my stomach turned with disgust.

I was staring into the face of the man who was responsible for the death of hundreds.

"Good work Clark. I knew you'd be able to track her... although I doubt the white wig was necessary." The Alpha said, his eyes never tearing off mine.

Clark rolled his eyes.

"In a group full of blood-thirsty rogues I'd argue it was necessary." Clark sniffed, ruffling his copper hair.

I resisted the urge to spit in his face. The Mistress roared inside my head, swearing and promising death. But I knew I had to wait-- our time would come.

"Yes well-- you know what the penalty is for rogue thieves. Immediate death." The Alpha said promptly.

"Her execution will be scheduled for noon tomorrow. All transcripts  of her execution can be found in the library." The Alpha said in a bored, rehearsed voice.

The Alpha made a start for the door, but Clark called for him.

"But, Lucas! I don't mean to get rid of her-- I captured her so we could investigate her." Clark called after him.

The Alpha turned around and sighed in annoyance.

"She's a thief Clark. You know the punishment." Alpha Xavier said.

"Yes but-"

"I know your theories Clark." The Alpha said shortly. His gaze flickered to me once more, and strong hate rose from me again.

"Whether she's a witch or a spirit... I don't care. Right now, the only thing I'm concerned about is my Coming of Age ceremony. Now if you don't mind..."

The Alpha-to-be sloped about the staircase and disappeared.

"She will be executed tomorrow at noon. No exceptions!" I heard him call from the staircase.

Then, I heard the door open and he was gone.

Clark got up angrily, glaring at me.

"I don't care what everyone else thinks. I know what I know, and I'm not resting until I figure out what you are." Clark shouted.

"Good luck with that." I said calmly.

He gave a scream of aggravation and ran out of the cellar.

I tugged against the handcuffs one more. It was no use.

"Leave it up to me Kira." The Mistress whispered in a scarily-calm voice.

I felt myself being pushed back, back, and back, back into the shadows of my mind. I watched as the Mistress took control.
