Today everything felt off. I had this bad feeling that I could not shake off. No matter how hard I tried to ignore it, I could not stop the anxiety that was starting to take over me. My mind was wandering to places that were making the anxiety even worse. I was not a religious person, but I prayed that this feeling was nothing and that my dad was okay wherever he was.

After having some of the food uncle Bobby made us for breakfast, I went and changed into my uniform. As I was tying my work shoes in the locker room, something caught my attention.

Looking up, I noticed something sticking out from the bottom of my locker.

That's weird.

I did not notice that when I got here almost an hour ago. Once I opened my locker, an envelope fell out. The front had my name written on it in perfect cursive. Inside there was a paper that only had one sentence written on it. A sentence that made my stomach drop. I stared at the paper in my hands, trying to make sense of it.

Before I even had the chance to process the words, the alarm started going off.

"Agatha, let's go!" shouted Chimney, snapping me out of my thoughts.

I shove all my belongings in the locker as fast as I could and ran to the ambulance, where Hen was waiting for me.

"Are you okay?" she asked, as I put my seat-belt on while we followed the firetruck out of the station.

"Yeah," I lied, giving her a small smile. I was not okay at all. I kept having a feeling that something terrible happened which made me think it involved my father. On top of that, the words on the letter kept repeating in my head over and over again, making my chest feel tight.

You will pay for what you did, whore.

Who would write something like that? I have not even been in California for a week, let alone had the chance to go out or do something to someone for me to be getting such a horrible note. I wanted to believe that it was a mistake or a poor joke, but something deep down told me that it was not the case.

Once we got to the scene, it looked like it came out straight from a sci-fi/horror movie. An earthquake occurred not so long ago, causing a tsunami that took down the pier and everything on its path.

"Okay, let's get to work fast, people. We need to do this between waves," Bobby ordered as we started to get in rescue boats.

The deeper we got into what used to be roads, the more horrible it got.

Natural disasters were never an easy call. I have been through tornadoes and a fair share of hurricanes, but this was something I never thought I would ever experience. It was honestly a heartbreaking scene.
