Lance POV

BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!

I groaned as I turned myself around, pulling the blanket over my head to muffle the annoying sound of the alarm clock. But instead of being able to go back to sleep, the noise intensified. I turned again and put my head under the pillow, pressing my hands onto it. The noise was fainter but still annoying. Finally it turned off.

Relieved, I relaxed my hands and gradually drifted back to sleep, but not two minutes later and it went off again.

I jumped up my blood boiling with anger. "Agh, can't you just shut the fuck up and let people sleep for once?!", I exclaimed and threw my pillow at the alarm clock. It fell down with a loud clattering.

My door swung open and Rachel stretched her head inside. "Lance, shut up! Dad is still sleeping...", she hissed then stared at me frustrated. "What the hell are you doing?!", she exclaimed.

I was standing on the edge of my bed, my left leg bent to my stomach and my arms raised over my head in a weird position that looked like a bird captured in the moment it raised its wings. I laughed awkwardly. "I'm destroying my alarm clock."

"The alarm clock isn't there to be destroyed, idiot! It's to help you get up. I mean, look at the time. What would you do without it?"

I read the time. 7 am. "Calm down, Rachel. I don't have to go yet."

"That isn't the point Lance! You have to have time to get your stuff ready! How is it that I still have to explain this basic stuff to you, even though you're already 18?", she sighed and turned around. "Breakfast in ten. Don't go to bed again.", she told me and left.

I groaned. Rachel could be such a pain in the ass. Especially when you don't do what she told you to. I opened the cupboard and got dressed in my usual attire. Blue jeans, grey pullover with blue arms and my favorite jacket.

Everyone was already fully awake downstairs. My nephew and niece were already running around the house refusing to get dressed. Mum was cooking breakfast with grandma and grandpa was reading the morning newspaper again.

"Buenos dias, cariño", Mum said and kissed my forehead. I brushed her off. "Mamà, I'm already too old for that."

"Nonsense! How can someone be too old for a kiss from their mother. Abuela still gives me kisses."

"I'm 18!", I said holding back my irritation. "Plus, you and I are different people. Just because you still allow it, doesn't mean I have to." I snatched a piece of bread from the counter and sat down at the table, where Veronica was brooding over her open school books.

I took a big bite from the bread. "Have a test?", I asked with a full mouth but she didn't answer. I shrugged it off and quickly finished my bread.

"You have enough time, bro. No need to rush.", Marco said from across the table. He was sipping his coffee with the most annoying slurp ever.

"I know, but I'd rather finish fast, so I don't have to listen to your annoying mumbling and slurping."

"You little!", he exclaimed and I stood up.

I shouldered my backpack. "Plus, the ladies are passionately awaiting my arrival. Not like you would know what that feels like." I saluted with two fingers and ran off before Marco punch me. I knew exactly where his weak spots were. I could hear his angry screams as the front door slowly fell into the lock.

My way to school wasn't that far. Our house was almost located directly beside the school building, which was a huge relief for me. I wouldn't have to get up so early, to get there. On the way, I always meet up with Pidge, my best friend since elementary school. She often talks about tech related stuff and her recent discoveries she made with her brothers telescope and such. But we also talk about other stuff. Like when were annoyed, we tell each other. Stuff good friends talk about.
