Chapter 4

I know that since I'm twenty I can freely leave my current pack, I've thought about it a number of times but hearing it from my dad made it seem more real. My only hesitation was my mom, I couldn't have left her behind because of the repercussions, but it never occurred to me that she could have come with me. I smile and hug him. " Dad of course I will, and since I'm your daughter I don't have to ask my Alpha." I'm so astatic. "I know baby, I know."

I smile at him, but then I feel arms pull me back. I look up and see my Alpha, Kieron. I give him a fake smile which in return gets a real one. "I was wondering where you ran off to my love." I can see the glare my father gives him at the pet name he gave me. "I was excited to see my father, for I haven't seen him in so long. Please forgive my rudeness." He smiles more and kisses my temple. "Of course I forgive you, you know I can't stay mad at you. I understand, there is no bond stronger than one between father and daughter." I can see my father smirk at the statement. 'oh no.'

"Other than the bond between mates, of course." I can feel Kieron's hold on me tighten. "Of course." I can hear his anger and I look at my mother through the crowd to the right of me, when I start to mind link her the plan.

'Mom, do you want to go home with dad?' she looks at me through the crowd with a look that says yes.

'Reject the Beta, it will distract the Alpha, making a distraction, so that we can escape.' she nods at me and looks at the beta. She starts talking to him and I nod at dad.

When I hear the trumpets go off a loud growl from the middle of the room erupts right where my mother is standing. Greyson does not look to happy and I see my mother quickly walks towards me and my father.

I look at my father and he nods. "Kieron, I believe your Beta needs you." Kieron growls then walks away, leaving me with my father and mother. My mother quickly exclaims. "I rejected Greyson. We need to leave now." My father and I nod knowingly.

Just as we were about to leave I was interrupted by the smell of nutmeg and burning wood filling my nose. That smell could only mean one thing...

A menacing growl erupts from the throne. Everyone in the room except me bows their heads in respect and loyalty to the king. Its odd you would think that I would be able to submit too, but I was able to keep my head held high. The king stands from his throne and my chocolate brown eyes meet his ocean ones, with just one glance I knew that I could drown in them until the end of time. Then I hear the dreadful word from my wolf. 'Mate!'

I can't help but look at his features. His mustache and short clean cut facial hair, help angle his features more. His black hair is silky and shiny. You can tell under the suit that he has a body that has spent years and years of training. I can't help lightly blush when I notice him looking me over. He takes a step towards me and I remember. 'Wait, he's my mate!' My eyes widen and I take a step back.

'Aw crap!' I exclaim.

I grab my father's hand and the three of us leave the palace, down the main steps, and to the limo.

'Oh crap just hit the fan. Alert. Alert. Alert. Aboard the ship. Man over board!' states Hilda my wolf.

'Now is not the time' I exclaim!

The driver opens the door for us and I quickly get in, then my mom, and last my dad before the door closes. The car starts, us pulling off the palace grounds. I look out the rearview window and see the King standing at the bottom of the steps watching us go with a hurt expression worn on his face. I feel content as I feel the connection with my old pack disappear and hear the voices from the mind links stop as they break. I scoot closer and hug my parents.

I feel safe and warm as they hug me back. My parents are finally happy and back together.

I slowly fall asleep in their arms as we go home.
