Chapter 17

~Jaliza POV~

I go into my room and close the door. I kick off my shoes and undo my hair. Putting everything on or near my vanity. I change out of the dress into a simple, dark blue silk bathrobe. I hop into my bathroom and bathe before changing into my white nightgown. I leave the bathroom and see Lizzy in a matching nightgown. I get into bed, and she lays next to me. "Get some rest Lizzy; we will have a busy day tomorrow." She nods and falls asleep. I smile and stay up late into the night, then fall asleep.

~Amari POV~

I walk to my office after walking Jalisa to her room. I open the door and see my sister Lucy holding my sister Jules. I close the door behind me and smile. "Lucy, you should be going to bed with Jules." She smiles and hands me Jules, who I gladly take. "Your mate stood up to her; I like her already!" I chuckle at her response. "I do too." I look out the window. "Any news on the investigation?"

"Only the fact that whoever killed him was in the palace and was pissed." I sigh and look at the sleeping baby in my arms. "Who would be pissed enough to kill a father and a king? Especially if they live or work here. Dad was a great king, he wasn't the best father, but that was because of his duties." I feel Lucy put her hand on my shoulder. "We will find who did this, Amar. They have to pay. Because of them, Jules will never meet dad." I nod and look up at the almost full moon. 'Tomorrow will be a long day.'

~Jalisa POV~

I wake up the next day to my alarm at 6 am. I get up and go into my bathroom that looks like the one I had at my father's pack, but one sink instead of two. I take a shower and use the strawberry-scented body wash and the chocolate-scented shampoo and conditioner set. When I'm done, I put on a green elbow-length sleeved dress that stops just above my ankles. I brush my hair then blow dry it into its natural waves. I put on my black flats and clean the mess I made. 'I know it's the maid's job, but they already clean so much, and I'm just used to cleaning.'

I walk out of the bathroom to see Lizzy awake and eating. "Morning Lizzy! Sleep well?" She quickly nods. "They brought up french toast and eggs for us. Also! While you were in the shower, The king poked his head in and told me to give it to you when you were done." She hands me a white box that has a satin blue ribbon on the lid. I open it to see a folded piece of paper. I sit on the edge of my bed and open it.

Good morning Jalisa

I hope you slept well; I had this repaired for you last night so you could wear it today; if it clashes with your dress, I understand if you don't.

Amar

I see that it's my hairpiece that I wore the night we first laid eyes on each other. I walk to the mirror and use the clip to hold some of my hair back from my face on one side, so it's not tucked behind my ear all day. I put on some simple white diamond stud earrings that look like they go with the hairpiece and then the rest of the set. The necklace is a silver chain with a simple diamond in the middle, and the bracelet is the same. I turn to Lizzy, and she nods in approval. I sit and eat, then head back to the bathroom with my makeup bag. I quickly brush my teeth and put on a bit of concealer and mascara. I don't do my eyebrows cause they look perfect, and I put on a simple blush to add a bit of color. When I finish, I see that it's 9 on the dot.

I hear a knock on the door and I walk out of the bathroom to see Lizzy letting in another girl our age. "Hello, I'm Lilly, Beta Jonathan's mate." I nod and walk to her. "Hello, I'm Jalisa, this is Lizzy, a close friend of mine." They smile at each other. Lilly turns to me. "I'm here to give you the tour and to tell you about the rules of the palace, which aren't really rules, but everyone follows them." I nod. "Makes sense." Lizzy nods. "Don't go into the queen's wing, she liked her privacy, do not be loud in the halls, there are always meetings and classes for noble children in session." She leads us out of the room and down the hall. "Jalisa, you're the only one to freely walk in and out the king's bedroom, except for the Beta. On the days of the full moon nights, the king meets with the elder council, they are to not be disturbed unless it's an emergency." I nod.

She leads us into the library and I smile, looking around. "Lunch is at 11:30 every day with dinner at 7:00. Jules has a nap after lunch around 12 o'clock and the king goes back to doing his work after dinner till 9:00. Curfew is 10, but because you're the future queen you won't be stopped." I nod and look around. "Anything I'm not allowed to do?" Lilly looks out the window in thought. "Barging into the king's office. He prefers if people knock and going outside of the palace alone is stictly forbidden for any noble. If you want to go to the castle town that has to be approved by the beta so he can send guards with you, for your safety." I nod. "Understandable. I'm at least allowed to go into the gardens right?" She nods. "Yes, as long as you don't go outside the palace walls." I nod and follow her out of the library.

"Anything else you need to know?" I shake my head as we finish the tour in the main staircase. "No thank you, from here on I'll learn from trial and error." She nods and walks away with a soft smile.

I look at Lilly to see her looking around. I lead her back to the library and we both pick out a book before heading to the gardens.
