The king leads us to his office and closes the door behind us. He turns to us. "Are you guys alright, is there anything I can have a servant get for you?" My dad shakes his head too prideful to ask for help causing me to sigh. "An icepack for my dad's hand would be lovely." He quickly nods and sends an servant to get it.
The king turns to me. "Why was Alpha Diavolo angry?" I sigh and look at my hands. Lizzy puts hers on top of my to encourage me. I clear my throat and look at him. "He wanted me to be his chosen mate." The king crosses his arms. The door opens and the servant from earlier bows then gives my dad the ice pack. Then he quickly leaves. "But from what I understand you were not part of that pack." He says confused. I shake my head no. "My mother's mate is his Beta. My mom took me there so she could be with her mate. My father-" I look at my dad. "-chose my mom to be his mate, which she agreed to before she found her own. I went back to my father's pack after we first met." He nods and sits behind his desk. "Why did your father say what he did?"
I take a deep breath to control my emotions. "Alpha Diavolo and his Beta are cruel wolves. They're cowards, not men. They use woman to their advantage and make those around them's lives horrible. I was no exception." He frown. "He touched you?" I quickly shake my head no. "Not sexually no, I was the only one he didn't. H-He wanted to wait till the wedding night. Finding my mate at the ball was my only hope, he was going to marry me the week after." By now I'm forcing myself not to cry and I can tell the king is having trouble controlling himself. My father turns to me. "Jalisa, I'm gonna call your brother so he can pick up Lizzy, I'm sure Laila can feel her fear through the twin bond and is probably worried sick." I nod and rub Lizzy's back.
"No, I'm ok, just call him to tell her I'm alright, I want to stay with Jalisa." I smile at Lizzy and hug her. He nods and steps out of the room. "Jalisa, how rude of me. I'm asking for you to tell me about yourself and forgot about introductions. I'm Amari Wolf, but you may call me Amar; Jalisa." Him saying my name sends shivers down my spine, but in a good way. I smile at him. "It's alright, I forgot as well. My full name is Jalisa Key" He smiles at me.
"Why were you gone for so long? And why did you run if I was your only hope?" He asks causing me to gulp. "I was terrified, I don't know if you were gonna be cruel like Diavolo. No one except those close to you actually know you, there are rumors but that's that, just rumors. I was away for so long because after the ball I slipped into a coma, I only woke up two weeks ago." He nods.
"So, when will you move in, I expect it's ok with your parents?" I nod and smile. "My stuff is already packed, all I really need to do is tell them where to put my stuff." He smile and nods. "I expect you won't be comfortable sharing a bed with me yet, your room will be next to and connected to mine. Is that alright?" I nod. "That's perfect." My father comes back into the room and whispers something to my mother. My mother smiles and looks at me.
"Everything is being loaded into the trucks as we speak." I glare at my dad. "Trucks?" He smiles nervously. "Well yes to move all of your clothes and items we needed to-" I scoff. "Sorry for my rudeness but I told you to donate the clothes I don't like or wear which is most of it to people in need." My dad practically hides behind my mother. "Oh let me spoil you! Plus he's gonna spoil you too! He's the king! He's probably gonna be worse than I am." I raise a brow at the king and he raises his hands in surrender as if he's innocent. I pout and they laugh. I grumble. "Y'all are impossible."
