It's six in the morning and I'm on my way downstairs to wake Andy up. I don't want my mom and dad to find out he stayed here because than they'll start questioning him about what happened. Yeah my parents don't get the whole mind your own business thing. I mean I kind of also intrude in his personal life but that's just because I want to help and even I know when to stop and not take it too far.
I walk over to the couch and see Andy sound asleep. His hair is all messed up and there is a small frown on his lips like he's having a bad dream. Soon I hear quiet whimpers coming from him and I walk closer to him to see if he's ok.
"Andy. What's wrong?" I ask slowly shaking him.
"No. No no no no. It's not my fault. I didn't mean to. Abby, Abby, ABBY!!!!" He starts mumbling in his sleep which turn into small screams. He tosses and turns and than starts mumbling again.
"Sarah, please stop. I'm sorry, please don't hit me, please." I decide he's had enough when I see tears starting to roll down his cheeks and try to shake him awake. He gets up startled and looks around frantically like there was someone after him.
When he realizes where he is, he starts to calm down and relax his breathing. I go to the kitchen and come back with a glass of water in hand.
"Here drink some." I say handing him the glass. He greedily drinks it down to the last drop. I take back the cup and than sit next to him on the couch. I don't bother asking since he'll probably refuse to answer and whatever he was dreaming about seemed pretty harsh.
Before I know what's happening Andy breaks down into uncontrollable sobs. His shoulders start shaking and the normal unemotional boy that I'm so used to is completely replaced by someone broken and defeated.
Not knowing what else to do, I take him into my arms and wrap him in a hopefully comforting hug. Slowly passing my hand through his hair, he starts to relax in my arms and soon drifts off to sleep. I lay him back down and change my mind on sending him home, I'll deal with my parents later.
This boy that shuts himself away from the world and keeps to himself is nothing but broken inside and out. There seems to be so much more to him than what meets the eye and hopefully I'll be the one able to figure out what it is.
I grab a pillow and blanket from upstairs and go back down and lay down on the love seat. It's saturday so there's no school and dad doesn't have work meaning he'll be here the whole day. Since mom will wake up soon I'll be sleeping down here because I don't want her to find Andy alone here and start wondering why there's a stranger sleeping on her couch.
No sooner than the thought left my mind did I hear footsteps upstairs. A door opened and than shut. A little while later mom came down the stairs mumbling to herself something about being late.
"Oh Luke, you nearly gave me a heart attack. What are you doing down here so early?" She asked startled to see me. I glanced up when a small groan came from the couch. My mom quickly glanced that way and had a surprised look on her face.
"Who's this?" She asked me.
"A friend from school. Uh, he came over last night when you both had already gone to sleep. We uh had planned a sleep over, yeah that sounds right, a sleep over. So we fell asleep down here while watching movies." I said which was a pretty good excuse if I say so myself.
"Oh I'm so glad you have made a friend. You should have told us though that he was coming over so we could have met him properly." She said with smile on her face and went over to grab her keys and purse. I sighed in relief and she left the house with a final goodbye.
I than laid back down on the love seat and fall asleep as soon as my eyes close. Oh boy it's been quite an eventful night.

I wake up to someone shaking me awake. I look up and there's Andy looking worried. Getting up quickly because I think there might be something wrong I look around but find no danger. Looking back at him I have a questioning look on my face.
"Sorry to wake you but it's nine and I need to go. Your dad's in the kitchen and told me to stay for breakfast. I'm not so just tell him I couldn't." He said still making me confused.
"Ok but why do you look so worried?" I asked him.
"Because my step mom called the cops and told them I was missing. If cops stop by here, tell them you know nothing about me. Got it?" He said making me nod my head. He than walked out the door mumbling a small thanks on his way out.
I get up and walk over to the kitchen. Dad is by the stove making some bacon and pancakes for breakfast.
"Did I just hear your friend leave?" He asked me.
"Yeah, he had to head home early." I said grabbing some water and than heading up the stairs.
"Hey hey, wait hold up. Where are you going with that glass of water?" He asked making me stop and turn around.
"I'm going to drink it upstairs." I said like it wasn't obvious enough.
"Drink it down here. I don't want to take anymore chances on you overdosing again." I sigh in annoyance and drink it down. Than I head upstairs to go wash up.
Later a thought entered my mind. Is Andy going to go back to his step mom. I mean she beat him up pretty badly which I finally found out thanks to him talking in his sleep. I wonder why she hits him though? She must have also been the one that gave him that nasty bruise under his eye. But if she hits him, why doesn't he try to get any help? And who's this Abby he kept on repeating over and over? So many questions and so little answers. Andy will you please let me in?
